Most part of the day amounts to checking for expired foods & goods, stocking, organizing, unpacking and shelving grocery and accessories of donations from local stores and people. Distributing and organizing for food hamper pick ups to Single people and Families in need of an extra grocery support.
It's not good for the job but, it's useful for volunteer hours. It can also be a way for communication and interaction with the public. It will also give the feeling of what general labour is.
Easy volunteer hours.
not a good way for job.
Well, I would go with my father to the church (around lunch time) and we would wait for the food bank truck to show. There was about 12 other volunteers helping as well. The truck is late sometimes, one of the times the truck didn't show up until around 3 hours after the assigned time, but as long as it has the food for the people in need, that didn't matter. The hardest part was honestly, reading the labels. Sometimes they would put the wrong number, sometimes there was no number at all. We figured it out though! The most enjoyable part was seeing how much food these people are receiving. An ample amount of food is designated to each family. A box about 1'5" would be filled to the top with bread, eggs, donuts, fruits, snacks, spreads, etc.
$20 From my father.
