I enjoy my job as I go to different locations to help and instruct, and diagnose any issues.
Only complaint is LM ( loc manager ) , they want control of everything, and tend to overturn the shop managers and not help in any way, causing friction .
Love my job! There are always difficult days and scenarios with the children and with the staff/company overall though I don't have anything bad to say I am not micro managed, I feel like I have people to talk to and I know most everyone is doing their best. Like in every job there are people I don't like but it is worth it to me, I get to bring my children to work with me, I can have a second job if I like best part is summers off when my kids are off school! Overall great place!!
If you can handle dealing with children and low income, you can work well. I would do this job still if I could pay my bills with the salary . Great job for anyone that deal with living within the means of three pay grade.
I enjoyed working here, I loved working with kids and helping people. I would definitely do it again if given the opportunity. The staff is very kind and helpful, you get great training and knowledge and meet a lot of new people.
I think for the most part the job was good, I was not a fan of having to deal with the daily maintenance of the vehicle. I found that there were not as many knowledgeable mechanics as there was needed. Some of the main staff members were over stressed and many times took it out on the lower staff members. They did provide a uniform and training for the job.
I have need driving about 5 years and when I started the rate was minimum wage per hour and the method of measuring your hours was a bit problematic. Since then the rate has gone up significantly and the wage is calculated from when your bus starts rolling until you shut it off after the run. i.e. you get paid for driving the bus. Otherwise the communication is there.
The work is a split shift which can be a pain for some.
On the upside you get to see the seasons change.
Overall it was a good company to work for enjoyed being able to have my child with me at work. There was some job uncertainty every year but it's a long as you did your job you are always welcome back the next year.
The Calgary area has seen a lot of bad things happen in the past few years. There has been new management, mostly absent management and make all decisions about numbers and don't care about people. There is a growing legion of people leaving the company. Does anyone do stats on people leaving????
I enjoyed working with first student. having a steady route for 10 yrs was able to bond well with my students . There was no benefits with this company and that was something I needed and I also moved to Yellowknife.
