Customer Service Rep - doesn't feel like a "Career"

Working in the Richmond Call Centre is basically a job... would not consider it a career. I love the employees I work with, but it is extremely hard to advance or move into other departments within the company unless you are willing to "outwait" years for employees to retire or quit.
Call Centre work is high stress, management worries a LOT about stats and being world class. They mean well, but the company is so big that you are sometimes just treated as a "number".
Very high attrition in the Call Centre... 2 groups of new hires are trained every year (16 people in a class) and less than half are still there a year or two later. Most people will stay for a bit and then find something better.
Benefits are good... pay is alright. It's a job.
Booking vacation days is a bit frustrating... not enough "slots" to book off for such a large group. You won't get any days off near a long weekend or summer time unless you have a high senority.

For such a big organization, the people are fair and considerate, they are helpful, cooperative and will ease a new employee into the training process.

Eight hours a day but feels your workload like eighteen hours. You are not allowed to book day off even you are sick.
