Great place to learn and work. Busy some days ,giving medication, dressings, doctors orderss Residents and family members were great too Staff work well together very caring
I worked at Chelsey Park for a while as a manager. Upper management is/was horrible. I spent most of my time defending my employees from horrendous decisions made without my consultation. Management meetings were spent sitting around a table with a bunch of old outdated people with no clue what it’s like to live and work in the 21st century.
Highchange over in staff. Poor orientation given. Management doesnt listen to staff. The more seniority you have the least respect you get. Honesty is not a value of Extendicare.
Pay is good
Management is poor

Management does not listen to their staff, and are not willing to remedy the situation once they are aware of a problem. Most coworkers are great to work with but the full time PSWs will gang up on new or part time employees, and report a first time minor issues to upper management that could have been discussed and fixed on the floor with supervisor such as the need to speak slower and louder to hard of hearing residents. I would recommend to check any long term facilities online record with the ministry of health for any warnings, violations, incidents. That will give you an idea of how the LTC facility operates before deciding to accept a position there. All LTC facilities have their MOH records online for the public to view. I'm not saying this facility has any bad reports but it's best to check and decide for yourself. I worked there part time for two years, and that was more then enough for me.
Short staffed and overworked
They will call you all the time for shifts even after you give them your availability. Excellent PSW and RPNs to work with and they work very hard and often short staffed. RN responsibilities are enough to keep you very busy.
Excellent workers overall
short staffed and lots of shifts if you want them
Extendicare London offers a wonderful learning experience to new staff. The Staff makes you feel welcome and they are very receptive to your queries and answer questions as able or they point you in the right direction. The inside and outside environs are very clean and you can see that the staff take pride in the services they offer to these Residents. The hardest part of my job is losing one of the Residents when you have developed a professional relationship with. I take each day as a learning experience and go home to reflect on what I have done and whether I made a difference today
