Most stressful job I have ever had, they treat there staff poorly and force you to stay. Extendicare has no respect for there employees. I would not recommend working for Extendicare.

Extendicare York is a very good and fast-paced workplace to work. Most of the staff work in a team because most of the time they are short of staff. I was on my student placements when I was there and it was fun.

the union agreed to force the staff to work an extra shift at overtime once a a week and would , suspended you a full day without pay if you refused to do so

If you are part time you will NOT get any weekends off! You will be scheduled every weekend! Full time in any department are just nasty mean. Also Management is terrible, very snotty and think they are above the rest. Maintenance guys are lazy. Mostly everyone is cranky and doesn’t want to be there. The company overall sucks. Unless you have no life and don’t care about working doubles all the time and can put up with all the bullsh!t this place is for you! Otherwise look elsewhere and this goes for all departments. The facility is old and has a mouse problem. The front office is also rude.There’s just nothing good to say about this place. Glad to be gone.

I enjoyed working as a PSW but working short was not pleasant and it happen to many times. Working short make workers unpleasant to work with. It was a stressful and rushed environment to work.

Orientation is s joke. They are too short staffed to teach you how to do your job and then discipline you for not doing your job. When I complained it fell.on deaf ears. They can force you to stay overtime if they are short staffed which is daily pretty much. They threaten with reporting to cno. Staff is mostly jaded and overworked. When I asked long time employees why they stay they said pension. Not a good enough reason in my opinion. They just want warm bodies in slots. I had no interview and no references were called. In 20 years of nursing I've never been treated with such disrespect.

The staff do their best to work properly despite the lack of proper management and short staffing. The environment is very negative and the residents do not get to feel as though they are a priority.

A very rewarding position in an often hectic and understaffed facility. Not a good work place culture due to management restrictions. I enjoy interacting and helping the residents. I dread the short staffed shifts which are becoming an almost daily occurrence.

Forced overtime. No time for family and denied vacation. Management is not friendly. Work here if you like money. They give overtime meals. Can work as many hours as you wish. Very short staffed

was an on call position in a very busy facility for those who could no longer care for themselves, served breakfast lunch and dinner stocked supplies and did dishes help keep the workplace safe

In a place where it litterally takes a team to achieve overall satisfaction where turmoil and challenges are always presented this work place has a team of hard working and dedicated employees. Its a great place to work.

Residents are wonderful. Staff is more worried about what their collegues are getting away with than the work being done.
