Great place to work! Main office building is easy to access and everyone that works there is friendly and helpful. They often are very involved in community events and engaging with the public. They hire strong staff and really try to get part time employee involvement, which is a nice change.
Some of the pro's here is working for an organization that puts a great deal of time, money and effort into developing staff. EJHS is highly motivated to not just change peoples lives, but to be an example in the community through action, not just words. Great management system that pushes employees to better themselves. The downside however, often there is drama and bad attitudes from staff member to staff member. Even with the ability to deal with the most difficult clientele in the system, staff easily complain about one another to management with no interest in talking or confronting each other. Management employs part time staff that often drop shifts or do not show up on a consistent basis, putting greater strains on full time staff and what free time they have. Hours can be difficult. Monthly meetings on a regular basis require overnight staff to come back in after shift sometimes as little as 6 hours later. Failing to meet the industry requirement of give staff 8 hour breaks in between shifts. Day shifts rotate weekly between 7-3 and 3-11. Pay is good for the industry, however often staff feel underpaid. EJHS gives generous bonus's to full time staff.
Year end bonus, personal development
Hard hours, Poor staff communication, Holding on to bad staff, Minimal advancement opportunities, Often working weekends to cover staff
JHS is a good place for students wanting to explore a profession in community engagement, addictions, and working with vulnerable members in society to include those who may have had contact with the justice system.
This was my first practicum and incredibly challenging. The supervisor and a volunteer seemed to have it in for me and may not have made it if it wasn't for my college placement supervisor.
Very very clicky

Working at the halfway house was fun. I met some good casual co-workers there and that I enjoyed them. The permanent staff were quite crabby most of the time and very unprofessional with each other often. My immediate supervisor was fantastic and couldn't ask for better support. The manager of the house was good however I had very little interaction with them due to my shift work but I would still rate her highly. Not much was done in the way of discipline when needed, but overall I enjoyed myself.
Working with the young men who were coming out of jail and dealing with their addiction issues was interesting. The staff and the young men worked well together in the joint goal of teaching independence.
not sure what to do sometimes
