Working at Dunnes HO was hard work but it was also very enjoyable. It was great to see that the company was making effort to bring in various activities and was organising wellness days for staff to enjoy. Tea and coffee stations were refreshing and location of the office was fabulous. Although this can be very team dependant - the culture was also great and having helpful colleagues can make a whole lot of difference - so that's a plus also.
team oriented culture, sample sales, xmas party
perhaps not enough of a proper training or having an assigned buddy to help out initially, that could result in longer than necessary hours and mistakes that can be easily avoided
Only got to be here for nine months but didnt want to leave as it was such a great experience. Loved the company, location and culture of the people there. I loved the canteen, too so much stress off me as didnt have to worry about cooking during the week.

A typical day at work involved taking the stock from the fridge at the back stock room and bringing out onto the shelves using dollies. I learned good team management and people skills. The hardest part of the job was dealing with difficult customers but once you learn how to deal with them politely and effectively it just becomes second nature. The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with my work colleagues and nice customers.
Work bonus at the end of the year.
The work itself in Dunnes didn't really vary but staff members got along very well and had good relationships with the store managers. The pay is very good for the work you're doing, and time and a half pay on Sundays and bank holidays.
Great place to work with a motivated workplace environment. I learned important skills like customer service, selling techniques, visual merchandising, handling money, and was trained into numerous sections (ladieswear, kidswear, customer services etc). The most enjoyable part was the workplace environment, the hardest was working long hours over the holidays as with any retail job.
It was a great place to work. The staff were fun and hard working and a joy to come into. The work pace was fast which meant you were never bored. However the manager of my section wasn't great but we still got on with it
Fruit and vegetable section of store. (stacking shelves, facing off etc) To be patient Too many egos in the store, all of whom were in competition and consequently made life very difficult for the other employees Very easy to get along with Balancing the amount of food to put on shelves with the consumers demands. Oftentimes food wouldn't be sold and it would have to be thrown out which i didn't agree with.
Typical day at work was cleaning, sorting out new stock, cash register and maintaining shop floor. Also managing staff and doing the displays and merchandising.
the hours too long and no set hours
