It was a diffident learning experience. Scary and eye opening, but the staff and leaders help you through the hole thing. If you ever get the chance please take it . It’s a big part of Hamilton history. You get all kinds of training and support. They are the most caring and supportive company you could ever work for .
The coke ovens were outside so it hot/cold/windy and the work was strenous. The co-workers all pitched in to help each other. Shiftwork was hardest

During my time at Dofasco, we were upgrading PLC systems. When I arrived to work, I would sometimes wire PLC's to their devices, create and review electrical drawings, review programs, program PLC and electrical drive test systems and create workflow binders for outages.I was working directly with my manager at times and he would always be respectful and helpful if needed. My co-workers were always a pleasure to work with. I was working with knowledgeable electricians and Rockwell specialists. I learned lots from them. The hardest part of the job at the time was deadlines and management. This is because there was an unplanned outage where we could to do the work we needed to upgrade the systems and everyone was scrambling in order to get the work ready for the upgrade. The most enjoyable part of the job was seeing the job go smoothly after scrambling to get the work ready for specialists.
fun work, good people
dirty working environment
