Low pay and no job security

I spent years at the company, and was one of the few people that was able to move up in that period of time that was not laid off. The main reason I left was for a job doing basically the same thing, but with a $12 000 per year pay raise with better benefits.

The management got better before I left, but nepotism had always been key within the organization. It was always about who you knew and not what you knew.

It was also getting clear that a lot of jobs were being shipped overseas or otherwise outsourced, so the culture took a big hit, with nobody feeling secure in their position.

This company is only for non-visible minority women and men who are close to them. They have absolutely no work and no restrictions on timings, dress code, vacation amount of benefits and get paid for free, along with taking anything they want from their office .. Most of them are at work, only for few minutes in 2-3 months, they are primarily from their call center, who never worked in any office setting before and get promoted quickly as Managers, HRs... They hire immigrants temporarily to build their systems and let them go in few months, all their work is credited to a non-visible minority person and cover up their joblessness as work life balance.They always monitor the reviews, change titles and cheating formula if anything is leaked and write fake reviews, to dilute genuine ones... I worked for a Manager, who was at work once a month, even that day he would spend it smoking in his office, talking to non-visible minority women in short clothes., and when we talk to him anything work related he would say he has no time...

Immediate Management was good but not Top level

I had an excellent manager who was pretty much considerate about her team members when it comes to training requirements and was willing to alter the shift schedules to meet their family commitments.
But the Top level management decisions of organizational restructuring caused doubts on job security.

Regular call center tech support for telecommunications. I was doing the same things all over for 5 years. I want to change for other tasks like computer software and hardware support where I have very good skills and knowledge.

A company wanting to walks its talk but not quite there

In many ways Distributel is innovative and thinks outside the box in terms of it approach within the industry and has some very good people as part of their team.They encourage out of the box thinking in their development team. Unfortunately, they struggle in doing the right thing by their staff. Although they claim that their salaries and benefits are within the average within the industry, the benefits are limited. The management and support of staff is lacking, with often "surprise" retrenching of staff and poor performance discussions

I worked for Distributel for 12 years and the people I worked with are great but the management does not listen to its employees when suggestions are made, especially the ones who have been with the company as long as I have.

This company is not a great place to work. The turnover for such a small company is crazy. You can be employed one day and escorted out the next for no valid reason. They are constantly "restructuring". There is too much work to go around and while this is understood, management does little to help.

This employer has on several occasions acted illegally in its overtime practices, unfounded firing with severance package to avoid lawsuits, and making promises that they are unwilling to follow through on. Great workplace for gathering experience, but be sure to have everything in writing before agreeing to anything.

In my experience, the manager's authority was unchecked by HR or senior management, thus he fostered a hostile and fearful work environment. There appeared to be opportunities to grow within the company if you worked for a good manager, but alas, that was not my luck.

They expect higher output with fewer people. They pay more to contractors, west money on cheaper technology and when systems fail they blame people who actually work hard to fix it. The management treats people very very bad. They do not appreciate hard work.

This was a fun place to work. Both supervisors and manager took the time to care about the team and showed it in many ways.

Learning new things was always encouraged from both formal training sessions and even from one another.

Behind a desk phone job

They started outsourcing to a call center in Egypt and will probably phase out the Montreal call center in the near future. They are headquartered in Ottawa, hence employees in Montreal are dispensable.

When you are new they give you the worst schedule i.e: finishing at midnight then making you work at 9 am the next day.

Get ready to talk to really angry clients because the after sale service is really bad; clients often have to wait 20-30 mins to get an agent on the line.

Also, if you stay silent for more then 1 min on the phone with a client Quality Assurance management will go down hard on you.

Met some nice people while there, it was the only good thing about working at Distributel.
