Directwest is like my second family
I started working at Directwest in 2006 in the Finance department. As my knowledge and experience grew within the company I had the opportunity to move to the position I am in today. Over the past 15 years I have got to know a lot of my co-workers and consider them my second family. I have also developed friendships with some of these co-workers, some who have moved on within their career but still am very close with. I am grateful for the opportunities Directwest has given me and enjoy working here. I am a farm girl at heart and proud to be a part of a Saskatchewan-based company that supports local businesses by providing all of their advertising needs which allows them to succeed. I would definitely recommend working at Directwest!
Media Coordinator in Regina, SK
Things are constantly changing at Directwest so be prepared to learn something new. New products are being rolled out all the time. Gives employees a chance to learn new things and advance skills. Directwest provides training to employees who are willing to learn new things. It is one of the smaller crowns so there may not be as much movement but that is also a positive as the customer service reps know the IT department staff etc. The executive staff know who everyone is and make a point to have conversations with employees. People stay working here because of the people they work with, everyone is always willing to help out.

Great Benefits, Poor Culture
I thought that it was odd from the beginning when the initial training was consisted of online modules with very little support of the manager. But it got worse when I started doing lot of traveling that was not at all mentioned during interviews. My first month working for them I was 11 days of the 22 business days away from home, every month that was at least a week away from home. There is a lot of good intention from upper management and some smart and nice people that work there but overall there is a lot of stress and a lot of mental health problems occurring with the employees of the company. For that reason I would not recommend a friend to work for this company.

No work life balance
Direct West lacks a large sense of compassion and presence from management. Whether you're getting brought on as a new hire or moving on to other things in your career, you most likely won't see or hear from management. The current culture at direct west revolves around whispers and employees avoiding being in the office at any cost - Staff is micromanaged and under appreciated. There is no team work happening as people are fending for themselves . The work/life balance is LOW and when that occurs morale and positivity drop. That's what is happening here. Rather than addressing the issue and having open dialogue management is in meetings, making decisions without consulting staff, and vague about all communication stressful and you feel like a number in a small company of 100.
