Not enough helpers to train, fast based environment and no one to help with customers inquiries. Very stressful people should be assigned one particular task and follow it up before moving on to another task.
Management and staff at this company are professionals with the goal to succeed. Training was delivered at a professional level. Opportunity to grow and cross trained in different departments was available.
I started off this job doing OSD and then was put on pallets. I am very good with numbers and research and did an excellent job in finding out where the pallets went and many of the customers had many errors in their accounting. I did this for most of the time I was there, and then a head hunter came and took me to do the same job at Manitoulin Transport, because they had a large problem with pallets also.
Management team works hard to ensure that their teams feel appreciated. They devote many hours to plan events multiple times per year for employee appreciation. They have an open door policy and support their team members is difficult work times and personal times as well.
Understanding co workers and management however very unorganized system. Frustrating to deal with customers and make deliveries through this system. Too many shipments to be done by the staff employed.
It was a friendly workplace environment. I learned many new tasks and worked in different departments in the company. Everyone got along with each other and helped each other with difficult tasks. Management was also understanding and helpful if any issues occurred. I did not find any difficulties in my workplace. The most enjoyable part of my job was helping customers getting their deliveries on time and helping them if any problems occurred.
-checking & responding to emails, using AS400 to allocate trailers & ensure freight is moving on correct trailers to correct destinations, contact appropriate parties in case of misdirects -how to use previously learned skills to advance -management sometimes unprofessional and disorganized -inequality in the workplace; credit not given to those who deserve it -laid back atmosphere even when pressure is put on employees to get jobs done
Typical day was very busy, call volume was normally high, with many different clients needs to be attended to. I learned many different systems, like the s400 system. What was taught the most was a high level of professional communication.
Hardest part of the the job is having to console clients of there lost freight and they can get a little pushy and angry but by working hard to find there lost freight at the end when it is found they are content.
