Working at Dairy Queen did have it's ups but it was mostly downs because of the fact it is supposed to be a fast paced environment, but the staff is unmotivated to do anything. Some positives about working at Dairy Queen are ice cream! If you love ice cream or the food industry I would recommend working at DQ because it is a hands on environment.
Enjoyed working for Dairy Queen. It provided a great opportunity to work in a fast paced environment. I was responsible in serving food and beverage and closing the restaurant.
Being fast-food, shifts varied in busyness. Some shifts were very busy, and often I would find we were almost always understaffed for these busy days, but sometimes there would be very chill days where we would get to kind of hang out while making novelties when there weren't any orders. I got along with majority of the people I worked with, as most of them were around my age or a couple of years older. Some of my coworkers I still talk with today. Some of the management members were stricter than others, but some were so chill, had the attitude that if we got our work done then we were allowed to just hang out and have fun when there were no orders, while other management members had more of an attitude that we should always be finding something to do. None of the management members were ever mean to me, they just had different management styles. I felt overall that going to work was a positive experience, I rarely dreaded going into work.
50% off meals during shift, 10% on other days
Poor shift assigning, some weeks I would get no shifts for no reason at all

The job itself is fast-paced, service-oriented, and ever-changing. Corporate does very little to enforce proper policies in franchise locations. Owners are forced to spend money on advertisements and other materials that could go towards training staff. The company is "working towards" making sure their stores are inclusive, however they delete comments on social media that prove otherwise.
The hours are okay during the summer months if you are a student.

Serving some awesome people
Racism, Homophobia, Bullying, Intoxicated General Manager, Regular security issues, Pandemic Hookups, Underagers sleeping with adult staff
Applied in March 2019, received a call for an interview in December 2019, started work February 2020. Did not fill out paperwork for payment during interview. Worked 3 weeks and currently have not heard from them. They took almost 3 months to pay me for my work and training. Overall not responsible and careless towards employees.
Supportive & friendly staff
Management doesn’t know how to communicate at all
I think that with the proper attention to Human Resources and the kind of management that cares about their employees, Dairy Queen could be one of the best work atmospheres in the world. Like any place, bad management leads to a poor experience.
I worked at Dairy Queen for 2 and 1/2 years. It was a great starter job however once you're there for an extended amount of time the manager starts to depend on you more and more which is acceptable however as a high school student I feel Dairy Queen was taking over very much my social life. Dairy Queen in Okotoks is the type of place to make lifelong friends however I would try to not stay there for an extended time. Once I finally got a new job I handed in my letter and since see manager was giving me the copious amounts of shifts the manager quickly turned against me treating me in a very unfair manner and was very rude as a response for me moving forward my life
Very friendly people and tfw's
Very rude management
Has the appearance of a good job at first. You do not get paid for training and they say uniforms are free except they take 20 off the first pay check. You have to buy black pants and non-slip shoes which are an additional 50. Management is non-existent, overworked supervisors run all day to day operations. Left due to stress because the company is understaffed even though I know of many applications that do not get read. With a 8 hour shift do not expect to get a more than a 15 min break which can happen 6 hours into the shift. Break room is good except bathroom is not cleaned. No lockers. cash machine is hard to read and often orders are wrong.
some people are nice, easy job, covid benefit (+$2 an hour)
discount only applies to one meal during break, only one 15 minute break for a shift 8+ hours long, run by supervisors not management, can not get time off, little to no in person training, misogynistic atmosphere with some staff, long hours
Working at Dairy Queen was a fun experience. Very friendly co-workers and easy work! Most of the areas you get trained in are very easy too operate. Great for a first job for any youth looking.
Good hours, friendly staff, and easy work
Can get stressful, managment doesnt always listen, hours during winter time decrease dramtically
Dairy Queen in Deer Park has a great management team and the people there are great to work with. Fast food wasn't for me but the job was good. If you like fast paced busy work I would definitely recommend working for Dairy Queen.
Coworkers, Management Team
Fast paced, Not a lot of shifts
I learned how to balance work and school, daily life at dairy queen was often more fun than not. Gained great friends as well as relationships with regular customers. Exceeded my expectations of multitasking and remembering. The workplace is very upbeat and enjoyable. I always enjoyed interacting with customers and my coworkers.
Gaining life long experiences and skills.
No cons, it was a great job!
