The Cree culture is renowned for its many tales and legends. Yet, our greatest story of all remains our proud history which we have been building for over 5,000 years. Today, we invite you to become part of it by playing a key role in our health care institutions. By doing so, you will surely write the greatest chapter of your life’s story. Our welcoming communities offer you the perfect setting to live the most incredible and enriching adventure of your career. While working with experienced teams, you will have the chance to hone your skills, discover a vibrant culture and explore a vast territory of magnificent landscapes.
Our nine communities are spread over 176,000 km², an area the size of England. Most communities have daycare centers, primary and high schools, churches, general stores, hotel/motels, youth centers, fitness centers, indoor swimming pools, cell phone service, Internet and, of course, health centers. Eight of them are linked to southern Quebec year-round by paved and gravel roads.
Activities all year long:
Over the course of the seasons, you can bike up mountains, canoe or kayak down rivers, fish and hunt (with a permit from the Band Council or the land owner’s permission), hike, cross snow-covered country on skis, snowshoes or snowmobile, skate on vast lakes, and sleep under stars wrapped in the northern lights. You will also be delighted when catching glimpses of wild animals such as caribou, bears,
foxes and geese in their natural habitats.
5,000 years of history and culture:
The Cree people have inhabited the James Bay region for more than 5,000 years. Today, the Cree population is of approximately 16,000 people. Members of the communities will be delighted to explain their rich culture to you. You will have the opportunity to participate in traditional ceremonies, hear all sorts of stories and legends, and take part in community activities. – moins
