The salary of a mere front desk agent is exceedingly great. The workplace is very friendly with amazing people around. The general manager himself will greet you and speak to you. The managers here are amazing and will give you every opportunity to grow. I hate that I had to leave this place for a different role.
Interesting job, freedom of work.
They posted vacancy called me for interview never heard anything when I called to make a follow up manager told me that management decided not to fill up the position. Why wasted people’s time effort and gasoline only to tell applicants management decided not to fill the position up please during this hard times be considerate to people who needed work.
Learned my lessons
Wasted my time and effort
When I first started there it was great then they wanted me to work overtime and I did but then they wouldn't pay me. I was told to take time off for the overtime but then when I wanted to take time off I was told I couldn't take time off there was never a good time to take this time off. The other thing that they're good for is writing people up, you hear it threatened daily.
Management is never satisfied
I really liked the people I worked with. At the start of my start date, we had a great Front Desk Mgr who trained me really well. Good hours. Certain things I felt Management could have perhaps planned better for in terms of extra coverage. When they knew there was going to be a big group coming in during the overnight shift that I had worked, in one instance in particular. But not a huge deal. Maybe things have changed since I had been there. But I felt there was not a whole lot of room for advancement in terms of promotions.
friendly co workers, decent pay, pretty consistent hours. Nice location, hotel itself is really nice.
short staffed for a long time, At times there seemed to be Miscommunication between management and staff, When there were fishing lodge groups, who came every summer, no regular performance reviews

Wasnt paid for my time working with Marriott. Chose a position elsewhere and they didn't pay me out of spite. I'd recommend staying away if you're looking for a better job. They don't pay well.
Lack of respect for employees
Worked there for 3 years as a night audit only raise i got was mandated by the government. We were good for a while but got a new manager who thinks only women should work at night at the bistro because "men like to look at girls when they are done work" also when he fired me he told me he could sue me because i told him to go f himself. He tried to tell someone after working over time they don't pay overtime.. So illegal.

Emplois et carrières chez Courtyard by Marriott
I moved to Halifax, with previous Marriott experience in Ottawa. I was welcomed with open arms and truly loved my positions with the Courtyard by Marriott Halifax Downtown. I started out at the Front Desk, and was then promoted to Front Desk Supervisor within three months as one of our Supervisors left. It was a great opportunity for me so early on in the hotel game. After approx. 1.5 years I took the opportunity to apply for the Sales & Meetings Coordinator position that had opened up. I got the job and was in that position for 1.5 years and absolutely loved it. The only reason that I left was because of a relocation to Moncton where I continued on in the hotel world. I am grateful for the team at the CY Halifax Downtown and truly learned a lot there!
Opportunity for Growth
Salary a bit low...
Working at Courtyard by Marriott Mississauga was the worst experience in my career , this place don’t suppose to be part of Marriott , I have been working in another properties and is nothing to do with this hostil environment . Careless management is the main thing . T House keeping manager is really a good candidate to work in animals environment but not in Hospitality .
Nothing at all
Job is neither fun nor rewarding. The pay is not great dont get lured by what they say in the interview. Management is the problem all the staff left and who ever takes the job is, short lived. Everyone calls sick you have the pleasure of covering all shifts. It's a 3 person job. In the end you would of made the same money working at the local Tim's and would of been able to balance family life. If you have no life or ambition this job is for you. They will hire anyone because no one wants this roll. 2 weeks and you will be back on indeed.
Too busy to even use the bathroom
The job itself was alright, culture was terrible. There was a lot of drama between co-workers in every department, with people actively trying to get others fired/make them look bad. Many of the staff members were overworked and given no appreciation for working well into overtime hours.
great place to work to gain more knowledge about the industry. Gained a lot of useful experience here. Management could be better and there is sometimes workplace drama. Overall good place to gain knowledge if you are passionate about hospitality. Hours are not evenly spread out.
free meals, coworks, hours, no benefits are part time
long hours, uniforms, workplace style policy.
Working at Marriott was quite challenging. This was my first work experience here in Winnipeg, Manitoba. And I was only allowed to work for 4 hours (9am to 1pm). My co-workers were always ready to answer me - whenever I asked any job related questions to them.
Poor staff selections, lack of sources to do right job, Unprofessional and less (NO) experience Management
Long hours, with lots of expectations, expect everything needs to be done perfect without proper staff and equipment and sources. Or its just me that i find it this way. But the worst place ever i have worked since last 10 years.
Advancement/ Grow within company
Long Hours / no breaks for supervisors
