Your coworkers quickly become some of your closest friends and the best part is the free food. The problem is finding the time to eat between cleaning, filling guest request, placing orders and various other task.
No set break
They let you know how expendable you are from week 1. You are over worked and seriously underpaid. They will make sue to cut corners with you by "forgetting" to register your benefits on time. There is no opportunity for growth or promotion.
Marriott International has many opportunities all over the country that their associates can apply for. They offer some of the best benefits for all their employees no matter what role you have in the hotel. They offer training for all their associates and education reimbursement. They promote their associates to be involved in organizations outside of the hotel including charities. Marriott likes to promote from within and cross train their employees so they can advance and learn. The morning meetings are a great way to start your day and make a difference for the team.
Good Benefits for all the employees
Marriott reduced how much we could celebrate with our team.
I enjoyed the atmosphere I was allowed to provide to guests, and the guests themselves due to my desire to hear everyone's stories. I did not like how there was little to no management aside from what I could do myself and then being reprimanded for taking control when no manager was around was terrible. Simply wanted the manager of the bistro to be there once a week for maybe an hour or two but never happened. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed my job because not only do I enjoy bartending, I made lots of friends through regulars and it made the job very enjoyable.

A typical day includes registering guest as they arrive and settling their accounts when they leave. I do the ordering for our market. I also do some booking keeping, as well as end of month reports and help with scheduling. Our management consist of a terrific team of helpful people who always make sure that the employees are happy and treated fairly. They always do their best to work with the employees to make sure their work and family time maintains a healthy balance.
paid vacation, health care, 401k
It is a good job for those that are in college that wanna make more than minimum wage this job helped me pay off bills and school and still had money for myself.
tips, more hours, no managers in the afternoon, flexable schedule
a little strict in the morning, waking up at 5 am
Great staffs to work with. Meet new people from every where!!!!! I learned alot from staffs and customers that i wasn't aware of. Its alot of work to do during midnight shifts.
No benifits for medical issue time off
The company shows favoritism to it's employees and managers and do not recognized those that do the most. In fact, the more you do the more they accuse you of not doing your job. There is no support from upper management, that is not local either, unless you are one of the favorites. They tell you to be available 24/7 but what that really means is that they expect you to work 24/7. If you ask for a day off for anything you will get denied regardless of the reason unless you are one of the favorites. They have unrealistic expectations of everyone. When you attain the goals that they set for you, the company sets them higher so that you don't succeed. Staffing is always an issue because people would rather work for a company that truly cares about them, their well being and career development.
Benefits almost immediately if your management
Salary, no work life balance, no support, favoritism
Gossip all around, directions are given on how to do your job which was good, new hotel so I can't say much about it functioning day in and out. They weren't that organized and some of the time you didn't have anything to do. Might be an okay place now but I wouldn't return. Hotel mainly for business people to check in!
lunch break seems to fly by
I enjoyed working alongside with co workers and learning from them. Fun work place with supportive managements. this job is the best easiest part of job. the managers always high expectation of my work abilities. The most enjoyable part of the job is meeting new customers from different countries.
free drink and food.
employee discounts in marriott in all countries.
The Courtyard was by far the best hotel I have had the pleasure to work for. Although I was not there for a long time I loved the management as well as the other agents. There was never a typical day at Courtyard; I was able to meet so many people new people every day, and with each person I met came a different experience.
