I worked for this company for almost 4 years total. In all that time I never once was given an employee review. I was given 2 raises and a promotion, so I didn't think much about it until the GM fired me and lied about why. When I needed proof I had been an exemplary employee I had absolutely nothing but my word, So after 4 years of picking up the slack for 2 other managers who refused to even answer their phone after 4 or on the weekends I was fired, not allowed in to go through my desk and my things were put out by the trash dumpster for me to collect. Even though I was polite and appropriate through all of it, a sign was placed over the time clock letting every employee know I was not allowed on the premises. In addition, nothing personal from my desk was returned to me, and I wasn't even allowed to finish turning in receipts for my corporate card, he simply disallowed every charge and tried to force me to pay for it. He also paid every contract worker who did work for the hotel except for my son, who still has not been paid a year later for stripping rooms, shoveling snow, snow blowing the drives, salting the walks, doing laundry and cleaning commons areas while we were overwhelmed and understaffed for months.
Some amazing team members to work with.
Being left to handle issues with no management answering the phone
Courtyard is a family environment. Everyone is collaborative to make sure guests needs are met. They are very flexible with schedules and understand that life happens. The General Manager is loving, honest and cares for his employees.
Work-life balanceif anything major happens in your life, management does not work with you.Job security and advancementmanagement does not take time to properly train.Managementmanagement is not supportive and is not looking to help you advance and gain the proper knowledge to perform job.they do not care for the team's well being.OverallPoor management. Great place to work, great staff and atmosphere, great hours and benefits.the general manager is awesome.he really cares about the employees.I would recommend anyone seeking employment to work for the company
Basically I only took the job because I needed one, I wanted to work the desk but that was all that was available. It was an experience if you're looking to get into either full service/food & beverage. I took it as a stepped stoneto another hospitality job.
Free food, tips
Not enough hours
Always be early for work 15 minutes, make sure your work uniform is clean neatly looking. Make sure to wear your name tag every day only take breaks when your supposed to and always clock out for lunch on time. And be a team player always greet the guest with a smile, and never ride in the elevator with guest ever. And stay out of gossip that will get you fired. And always try and do extra shifts twice a month Marriott loves that. I miss working for courtyard by marriot.
Be positive and smile
Make sure to ask about health care and pay, get a clear understanding up front
The hotel I worked in was run by a management company outsourced by Marriott, InterMountain Management
InterMountain Management was responsible for the hotel procedures at the Courtyyard by Marriott that I was employed at. The general manager and assistant managers were very biased, unprofessional and inconsistent with reprimanding the employees.
Nice property and location, discounted accommodations, plenty of work available for extra hours on paycheck
Time limit management, unprofessional managers
I loved working there. I was going through some personal stuff couldnt make it in to work. So it was my fault I should of talked to my supervisor. I know he would understand it was too late.
Sometimes the bistro would let us make plates for breakfast or lunch.
Must be able to deal well with guests who expect great service. Most work as a team. It was a good job for it's time. I wasn't interested in moving up in the company because it was temporary the option was definitely there.
Work-life balanceIt was fine..I was able to balance out my life outside of work.Pay & benefitsI guess benefits were fine..never got the chance to use them..worked there for a short period of timeJob security and advancementI was advised to try to be supervisor/ agm..I DID apply, but someone else got the position. Oh well.ManagementManagers were good. But due to C19 I WAS put on furlough...Mgr never kept me posted on when to come back. I was the 1 who kept calling....mostly mgr was good. ThxCultureN/AOverallFor short time I worked there, it was fine. Courtyard was clean & everyone made sure to keep it that way everywhere! All dept were good to work with. Helpful when needed. Thanks for everything. Fun while it lasted. Thanks again
I enjoy working for this company, it doesn't feel like a job, my position is something I am passionate about. I operate the BISTRO, which is the food court for guest. It has those days where things will get hectic, but overall not a bad place to work, if you are a student or need a part time/full time job.
Hotel discounts, Holiday bonuses, Culture
They posted vacancy called me for interview never heard anything when I called to make a follow up manager told me that management decided not to fill up the position. Why wasted people’s time effort and gasoline only to tell applicants management decided not to fill the position up please during this hard times be considerate to people who needed work.
Learned my lessons
Wasted my time and effort
This was probably the weirdest place I have ever worked at. So first off let me start with the interview. When I had my interview I was told I would be a full time employee so I accepted the job offer and started training. The training was very extensive and lasted for about a month. The people here just gossip all day about each other and some of the employees think they are supervisors or the manager. The manager doesn’t really talk to you she gets her employees to talk to you. I then “thought” I was done with training because in my opinion what else did I have to learn it was mostly common sense. I then was put on the schedule for fours days with two days still working with someone else who was very annoying and critiqued everything I did and the other girl that was also training agreed with this lol. I then quit because this job was just weird you don’t really get a answer about anything the manager doesn’t talk to you so you have to hear things from other employees this place was just confusing the only thing about it was it was a Marriott and the discounts are really good. I do think this would be a good company to work for with the right management or a different property. Also I quit and the manager put I was “terminated” idk weird place like I said.
Management, coworkers, training, hours
There is always something going on at the Courtyard by Marriott in Downtown Fredericksburg. Its community is thriving and right in the middle of it all is the Courtyard. In all my previous work experience I have never had more pride in my job than here. Leaving here was honestly a mistake... I had to what I needed to support living on my own. But if I could take it back, I would and make it work anyway because I remember always being even a little excited for work. Management knows what they're doing and how to successfully operate a hotel operation. I miss my guests too. Personality quirks are here and there, but if you don't think that's a part of jobs anywhere you're wrong. If you like people and enjoy a challenge while looking good, the Courtyard by Marriott is for you.
