Counter is a next generation law firm with the goal of setting the new standard in providing legal services.
Walking into Counter you'd swear you're at a tech start-up and not a law firm. Modern decor, standing desks, state of the art video conferencing systems and sound proof booths for taking calls.
Every day you'll walk in with your company supplied laptop and choose where you want to start you day: at desk by the window to get some vitamin d, next to a colleague you're working on a project with, on a comfy (and stylish) couch, or tucked away in an office to avoid distraction. All of these areas come with docking stations and you're encouraged to move around the office as you need to to get working.
After spending the morning either closing off on what you left off yesterday or addressing the new work for the day you'll join in a huddle at noon. Huddles are standing meetings where everyone checks in on what they're working on and how they relate to their quarterly objectives, how they're feeling that day, raise any blockers and ask questions from their colleagues.
After the huddle you'll break for lunch, grab a coffee and hunker down for the rest of the day. While not certainly not mandatory it's frequent to see people staying into the evening working for their clients.
The most difficult part of the job is probably keeping up. Counter has a very high standard for all of the work they do legal or otherwise and are always pushing hard to be maximally productive. With everyone very focused on their own work it can sometimes be a little isolating.
The bestplus... part of course is working with really smart people in an environment that encourages personal growth. I never felt like I was the smartest person in the room in the best way possible. As a software developer and product designer I was surprised at how adept the legal team was at jumping in and discussing technical issues and solutions with our project.
Working at Counter is certainly a highlight in my professional career. There is so much I'll be taking from Counter into my next job. I can't recommend them enough.moins
Open work environment, very smart colleagues, team atmosphere, modern workplace, commitment to continuous improvement.
Focus on high-performance can lead to imposter syndrome and anxiety, you'll have to remember to keep these in check.
