Run! Give this conpany a wide berth and keep a repectful distance, unless you are an electrician. The technical department that looks after the maintenance, and repairs to Calgary Airport is very electrician-centric and is managed by electricians. Although the work is fairly pedestrian and routine in nature, it is a dead-end job for millwrights. Working as a millwright, in this company, means you have a 'shelf life' of about three years. The politics and endemic corruption is rife and contributes to a stupidly high turnover of people. there is no proper HR department to run to when things begin to go south, and you fall out of favour with management. Very cliquey and back stabbing group of people who really DGAF about what you do, out on the Airside, so long as you do the work. You think you can be dedicated and do exceptionally well but, in the end, nobody cares, and the next moment you are escorted out the gate with a severance package, if you are lucky. For example, a millwright will be out the gate with the excuse given, being that his job was abolished, then they hire another millwright, a few months later. The pay is quite exceptional, especially in this monopsonistic job market but, it really comes at a cost to your dignity and self-esteem. Save yourself a ton of mental and emotional anguish and look elsewhere. You have been warned.
4 on/4 off 12 hour swing shifts. parking is provided, high degree of autonomy.
Ridiculously hateful, electrician-centric/supremesist managegment, no protections of an HR department or union.
