I have worked in 4 of the Compass Group Canada divisions...from a causal PT employee to a seasonal contracted lower level Manager. There is no benefits within this company, which is disappointing.
The coworkers and the Monday to Friday with Saturday, Sunday's off are the only reason I work here. Benefits aren’t great, no sick pay, and a management team that doesn’t seem to care about their employees. Management rarely leaves the office to be “hands on” and basically has no idea what is going on throughout their unit. Also favouritism on who gets hired and promoted.(same culture as management) if you’re not same ethnicity as the manager, forget getting anywhere besides low level. It’s not who’s more competent, it’s who she/he gets along with and can talk in their own language together. (Their English isn’t that great) Also pay is on the low end for this type of work. If they can get away with paying minimum wage they will, and they wonder why Compass has a high turnover....
Politics and low cross system collaboration competencies. Optics and sucking up have more to do with promotions than actual achievement. Models that almost guarantee low performance are also another barrier. Don't blame employees for poor product positioning
Greed is a primary driver. Low people focus. No truth to power; don't even consider it.
Poorly organized. Creates an unnecessary high pace and demanding workload. My workload has been light since most things seemed to stall at the enterprise level.Inadequate vision and low granularity/analysis of goals.
