Very unhealthy work place
Developmental Service Worker (Ancien employé) - Stratford, ON - 16 mai 2022
I found this agency good in that it offers a union. Saying that I see why they need one. They overwork staff and communication between managers and workers are poor at best, not to mention the toxic work environment with other workers . I would highly consider a different agency if you are looking to work in this field.
Points positifs
Paid holidays plenty of shifts
Points négatifs
Bad communication with staff toxic atmosphere

I loved my job most of the time l was there 17 yr and 8 months.
SC11 (Ancien employé) - St. Catharines, ON - 16 mai 2022
I left Community Living St. Catharines due to relocating to Sault Ste. Marie to be closer. To my children, grandchildren and sibling where l was born. My years at Community Living was great and excelled well over the years and learned so much. I enjoyed working with people with that intellectual and physical disabilities. My most favourite position was as a SCll in a high needs home.

No work home life balance.
Support Worker (Ancien employé) - Burlington, ON - 13 mai 2022
**BEWARE**. Management is very disorganized. If they do not like you they will make up a reason to fire you. Not a very good place to work. Not a genuine environment at all.
Points positifs
Decent pay

Don't work there
Personal Support Worker (Ancien employé) - Wallaceburg, ON - 28 avril 2022
They are hiring people who have been terminated. Doesn't say much for the agency. Lots of favoritism from management to SOME employees. I wouldn't recommend working there.
Points positifs
Pay is ok
Points négatifs
Most things

If you loved making a difference in other people’s life, CLV is a place for you. A great place to work at.
Support Worker (Employé actuel) - Victoria, BC - 13 avril 2022
A great place to work at, offers good benefits, and training for staffs, reliable management’s support all the time. You are working but does not feel like working as it makes u feel like you are at home , caring for your family. TEAM work within staff is the key here. It makes everything easier .
Points positifs
Free meal, flexible schedule, short and long hours shift, offered benefits and training

I learned a lot
Direct Support Professional (Employé actuel) - London, ON - 5 avril 2022
I was so excited to get the job at community living. Management is terrible and there is no appreciation for all your hard work. Vacation time always gets denied and you are treated like garbage which is why most people quit.

Decent place to work
Direct Support Worker (Employé actuel) - Oshawa, ON - 21 mars 2022
I've enjoyed my time so far with the company. The job itself is challenging enough, but also I have time to really get to know the people I support. Hours are flexible, and you're able to pick up all sorts of hours if you want.
Points positifs
Clients, good coworkers, flexible hours, good managment
Points négatifs
Pay could be better, no benefits for part time. Long hours sometimes.

Company does not care about people they support
Support Worker (Ancien employé) - Burlington, ON - 20 mars 2022
company is so cheap. consistent issues with payroll having to email multiple people before getting your correct pay. not enough staff so you are forced to stay at work for an additional 8 hours. High staff turnover. Company doesn't care about staff safety. Company will reduce funding and staffing to save money. employees are contacted on their days off by phone and email from managers bugging them about petty things and try to get you to come in on your day off. minimal room for growth.

Support Worker (Employé actuel) - Burlington, ON - 18 mars 2022
Not the safest place to work, no support from management which causes high incidents between client's and staff. Individuals run a mock, staff are rude.

Steady workplace
RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR- TEAM LEAD (Ancien employé) - Oakville, ON - 7 mars 2022
The industry as a whole doesn’t have the best interest of the people supported in mind which is very difficult. But Community living is not the worst in terms of supporting individuals, over all it is an okay place to work.

Busy , with low pay
Support Worker (Employé actuel) - Wiarton, ON - 22 février 2022
They are always hiring because many quit or drop down due to being so very busy and no benefits no pension no anything and making low money as well as management does not always listen to your concerns or address them at all. It is a fun place to be but they only hire part time or casual so there is no benefits or anything and in a two week period your lucky if you get 30 hours

Toxic environment in some homes
Developmental support Worker (Employé actuel) - London, ON - 17 février 2022
Toxic Company to work with. Supervisor citing with senior employees. NEW Employees has no say. No room for expansion as a new employee even if you have skills.

Do not apply here
Community Living London likes to pretend as if they care about their employees but their actions make it abundantly clear that they do not. The whole upper management team should be fired and replaced with people who are not completely out of touch with reality.
Points positifs
The only reason to work there is the people that are supported
Points négatifs
Do not take employee complaints seriously. Basically, tell us to "suck it up " they make dangerous decisions that only benefit them

good communication between management and direct support staff.
Support worker (Employé actuel) - St. Marys, ON - 7 février 2022
Every time I have had a problem, management has been quick to help resolve the issue. They are very accommodating to your personal needs. management will take your personality into consideration when placing you on a team, so to assure a good working relationship with the people you support. they offer a bunch of different training opportunities to grow your knowledge.
Points positifs
manners, pay, learning opportunities.
Points négatifs
short on staff.

Management isn’t great
Support assistant (Ancien employé) - Mississauga - 1 février 2022
Management only cares about themselves. They oftentimes look at employees as a number which is strange as this is social services. I recommend for the job experience but not for the management

A job that was okay with this company, but union based so don't expect proper shifts or strong hours for a while, off and on if anything.
personal worker (Ancien employé) - Essex - 1 février 2022
From working with the company the experience was okay enough it was mixed with fast-paced, can be slow paced, but more so fast-paced and busy if really good at multi-tasking. If there was a male staff, certain housemates will only listen probably quarter or less of time or if suggestion came up to them what to eat for snacks or games they would lose interest. If there are female staff they would think it's good idea or more willing to do that for like snacks, games, some indoor activity with covid. So it felt pretty toxic, when other co-workers hear about it, they'll try to advice and say it's okay for the workers who's been there for years. Hours can be okay at first little bit, then they reduce the hours a lot and has block not like other workplaces that have shift schedule that can change on your schedule. Don't expect full-time quickly at all, since there are many seniority people and they've been their for a while, a long list of it too, pay and more respect and understanding from the manager could be better. The hours may seem good at first but fluctuates hard and can be reduced a lot so if not close enough to the workplace it can be pointless for that drive just for few hours of shift. If worker calls in-sick, you may have to stay much longer or start quite bit earlier or do double shift for some people it's okay, but it may happen so it can be pros or cons with this. It will be sudden call to you or may require quite a few times here and there night shifts, they may give light pressure if unavailable to do it.
Points positifs
once in blue moon free lunches, taking the consumers/resident on some small drive to get easy tea/coffee.
Points négatifs
It is union, sudden change of shifts, seniority
