Good place to work. Long hrs, Good pay and benefits, work-life balance very low. You can make a lot of money if you don't mind not seeing family and friend

Good pay but not worth it

What is the best part of working at the company? The pay is really good, you will make some real incomeWhat is the most stressful part about working at the company? They send you out to deal with jobs that you have no idea on how to do them as a junior employee. The training time is not enough for you to feel confident and they want you to learn while working and figure it out by your self. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It is a very toxic work environment, the company is against the employees and union and try to take as much as they can from the workers.Everyone complains about the company and they hate to be working for CPKC but they stay because of the home high pay. What is a typical day like for you at the company? You never know what kind of day you will have, it will always be different. You have no control over anything, not even when you want to take time off, if you are even entitled to take some time off. They own you, your time, your life and your freedom.

Good money

Good money if you are willing to put in the work. Very safety oriented but I think bosses should be more respectful in general. Stressful environment sometimes but if you are looking to make good money, this is the place

Can be good with the right attitude

Really it’s not that bad of a place to work. You just have to understand that you’ll never have a weekend off for the first 20 years of your career unless you consider night shift with a Sunday Monday off a weekend which you should be able to get after 7 years. They will tell you that the seniority list moves when you get interviewed but don’t lie to yourself. People do retire but their jobs don’t make it up on the job board because they probably have a weekend off on a day shift. Training is non existent except for the extremely basic training that you get in Winnipeg which really won’t apply to anything that is in the fleet. On the plus side it’s sometimes fun to work on 50+year old equipment. You get to feel, what it would be like, being a farm hand from the 1960’s. You look at pictures from back in the day thinking to yourself, how are you covered head to toe in oil. Then you work on 50 year old equipment, right, that’s how.

Not too good

The bulk of my day revolves around project management and collaborative efforts. Meetings with team members are frequent, fostering open communication and strategic planning. These interactions serve not only to discuss ongoing projects but also to brainstorm innovative ideas and troubleshoot any challenges that may arise.A significant portion of my time is allocated to focused, individual work. This involves analyzing data, creating reports, and delving into the intricacies of various projects. The office environment provides the necessary resources and a conducive atmosphere for concentrated efforts, allowing me to delve deep into complex tasks.Lunchtime is a welcome break, providing an opportunity to recharge and connect with colleagues on a more personal level. Socializing with coworkers not

Curious

Got a job offer, seeking reviews in terms of work environment, work life balance and growth. Pay and benefits is good. Proper training based on what I was told.

Takes a lifer

If you're a trades person out of work, looking to make a steady paycheque in a new field - don't come here. All day long you'll be missing your trade, dreaming for this all to end.If you're young and into railroading - this is for you. Come and stay, if you've never done anything else seriously.

Interesting

You are literally a number to them and nothing more. They don’t care if you have something going on, if your family member is in the hospital they will tell you that you can take time off to see them when they’re dead

Low salary

Salary isn’t competitive compared to other similar companies given work load and complexity. Benefits are ok however. Would recommend to a friend or family

Pays good, not much else is

The work is okay, very repetitive. They pay for schooling and all costs related ie food and travel, but the on call is very hard on people and as such the culture is very poor and unforgiving when it comes to new people. Lots of nights worked and days slept away

Horrible management/ culture

Sell your soul for 100k a year. Exhausting management who are inexperienced and unqualified. Wish I never started and looking for new work when possible

Productive and fun

Great place to work and build a career. They were very nice and wanted to develop our career. The managers were very helpful and kind. I felt valued and heard.

Start you

Start at 18 and get used to life style not in 30s with a family. Company is huge on safety and training. Once you get into the field trainers are just there for a paycheque.

Good Money.

Great place to work if you can deal with all the rules of transportation and the work hours. Paid vacation, and once you have enough seniority you can hold better jobs or transfer to more desirable locations.

Team oriented with common goals

One of the greatest jobs I ever had, feels more like family then a workplace. Never a dull moment and fast paced, group effort on every task we need to get done.

Frustrating company

Incompetence on all levels. No one seems to care or put any pride in their work. All the departments work against eachother to screw eachother over. No training. Pay is lower than industry standard for mechanics. The union is just as frustrating as the management. This company attracts bottom feeders. 2/10 would not reccomend
