If you know how to jump...when asked, and to jump even higher for them (high expectations with little reward), then yes you'll do fine. Unfortunately they only want 'yes' men/women and they for sure are not looking for, critical and or analytical thinkers.Réponse du 9 janvier 2019
The CAO/execs, and the management team are horrible to employees...they have little to no respect for qualified individuals/professionals, and you will feel bullied 90% of the time you are employed by the City of Woodstock. So that is why I left because their culture is extremely negative and nasty to anyone who does not hold an elite role within the corporation (they are an exclusive employer rather than an inclusive 'team').Réponse du 20 juin 2019
What's the employee retention like in the rec department outside of directors/managers/supervisors; is there opportunity for those outside of the specified employees, to work their way up the ladder or is it just a position that needs filling by a human and that's all they care about?Posée le 22 août 2018
The opportunities for growth are limited in the rec department but they are there. The vast majority of the positions that do open up are part-time positions though.Réponse du 19 juin 2019
Do all of the executive team members, positively reflect the 'brand' when dealing with the public?Posée le 16 janvier 2019
No, the executive team members are very aggressive towards people who are not part of their 'team', so as a candidate, you will be bullied by that executive team to submit to their egregious behaviour. I don't think any of them understand how to approach outsiders in a positive manner.Réponse du 27 mars 2019
If you get a phone call from HR for an interview, are they able to answer any questions a candidate might have, or would that be better suited to the actual department hiring for the role?Posée le 16 janvier 2019
The person who calls to set up an interview, has no knowledge of the role and or you as a candidate. So if you ask, be prepared to not get any answers as those roles are just 'yes' men/women for their executive team members.Réponse du 27 mars 2019
Why are so many roles with municipalities "CASUAL / UP-TO 'X' HRS PER WK" type of roles? (most aren't even the full amount of hours per week, as some are advertised as 0 hrs/wk).Posée le 14 janvier 2019
Because that is due to the contracts set up between the union and the city.Réponse du 19 juin 2019
Is the culture to uplift and retain all employees, or just those mid-upper management people? Do front line workers get the short end of the stick?Posée le 22 août 2018
No, the culture is not very healthy whereby employees should be retained and uplifted in their jobs and where those employees should feel like they can have lasting careers in the municipal environment. Basically, unless you are in an upper management position, do not expect your role to last and never expect it to increase to something more. To answer the other question, YES front line workers do get the short end of the stick and are often the ones who do the majority of work (typical, old school municipal approach in Ontario...nothing changes).Réponse du 9 janvier 2019
