Worked at the City of Ottawa for approximately 30 years and as such there were good times and bad. Over the years I held various positions including ward clerk and equipment trainer, the latter of which I enjoyed greatly.
Councillor Assistant (Ancien employé) – Ottawa, ON – 17 novembre 2019
This was a very demanding position that brought on it's own issues. As a Councillor's Assistant job security is not great and it is difficult to move to a position within the city because you are not a unionized employee.
Working frontline has many challenges. You are regularly interacting with families in crisis and must deal the with issues they have in a professional manner. There are physical components to the job, moving and lifting as well as time on your feet. Administratively there are Log Books, Narratives and Incident reports to complete as needed. It is also shift work.
