CIBC Advisor Jobs

Avis en vedette

L'avis le plus utile, sélectionné par Indeed
- Days can get busy sometimes- the ask is to do basic like make calls to let clients know we are here to help. Outreach is given a lot of IP which is crucial considering the environment we are in.- Internal processes can be challenging to navigate sometimes- Some branches need a bit of work to make employees feel appreciated where managers are not doing the best, but some of the branches have really great managers to support their employees-Harders part of the job is employee turnover and then vacant positions which cause a lot of pressure on existing employees

Awful place to work

Awful place to work, they do not value their employees and push them to sell products clients do not need. Also mindless meetings every week which is too much.

toxic culture

it is all about numbers , dont matter how you get them, as longer you dont get in trouble by clients. because even managers know that you cant hit those numbers, so do whatever it takes, make sure you dont screw up.

Meritocracy at its finest

CIBC is a good place to get your foot in the door in the baking industry with a competitive salary and standard benefits you'd expect. Focus on sales is incredible considering the company eliminated variable compensation structure. Be prepared for a lot of planning, redundant meetings and the occasional happy client.

Associated Financial advisor

The new work structure does not make any sense. Don’t work at CIBC.low pay and high expectations. Never end. If you want to work for bank, select other FI instead.

Branches are fun to work at.

Would recommend to anyone who wants to kickstart their career in financial planning. Little to no support with gaining accrediation towards PFP. You are on your own kinda.

Points positifs

Friendly workplace dynamic, above average pay

Points négatifs

None. Little politics

Worst bank I worked for

Competitively from the other banks I’ve worked at the base salary is really good but the bonus structure and the benefits are really lacklustre. The systems are horribly outdated and need to be updated. Tried to advance within the company and it was nearly impossible.

Points positifs

Nice coworkers

Points négatifs

Long hours No flexibility

Retail banking's working environment has always been stressful. You need to know how to deal with difficult and rude clients.

The role of Financial Advisor receives a FADP (Financial Advisor Development program) in the first several months, but you are placed immediately in the job at the same time receiving the training. You have to learn how to provide services to clients without knowing the system. It doesn't sound very reasonable when you have to do the job before you receive the complete training, but it is the reality. Too much turnover at the branch, the job depends on referrals from FSRs, when the management and the team changes a lot, it is difficult to establish a relationship and grow your portfolio

Very incompetent managers with no experience

Hard work does not really matter to this organization. A lot of managers are occupying positions with no experience. They hope that you can learn from other colleagues. You wonder if managers are really needed as they are unnecessary costs in quite a number of cases. Some of them just continue to hold meetings, send tons of emails to appear engaged with no interest paid to bottom line and talk down on people they don’t like. They will stop at nothing to frustrate you like that is part of their role. Extremely unprofessional and unproductive. They became friends with powers that be so they all keep rewarding themselves and the incompetence never ends. Senior management is aware that managers use their positions to suppress people’s growth rather than address this, they make videos to dissuade them or act like it’s an inclusive place to work. Managers are even indiscriminately shuffled so that favourites occupy the best branches and the talents keep leaving like it’s going out of fashion.

Points négatifs

Incompetent managers are too many.

No wonder they are the wirst performing bank out of the big five

You are just a number to drive sales...they don't care if you have covid or anything else...tick the boxes...makes sure the bs metrics add up. If you like micromanagement..you'll love CIBC.

Bad experience

Financial advisor at a branch - the worst job I've ever had in my life. intense pressure, micro-management, low pay, constantly being asked to do additional activity and meaningless tasks which prevent ability to provide client advice, impossible targets, archaic disparate internal systems that impede ability to deliver client solutions, mediocre management, always short-staffed.

Points positifs

Free banking?

Terrible place to work

Micro management is the way of life. Constant shaming during meetings. Very unhealthy competition causing increased politics in the work environment. Pushing for and forcing sales and it's all about the numbers. Zero work life balance as the management will suck the life out of you and will make you even work when on vacation. Overall it's a terrible place to work

Points positifs

Nothing

Points négatifs

Everything. Good employees quit everyday because of bad management and bad work culture

Worst place to work

CIBC a pathetic place to work. The management is totally corrupt. Don’t know the business ethics. Always tries to focus on sale. On the name of retirement planning, CIBC is selling it’s products making fool out of people.

not a bad place

was a great place to work until some management chances. Then the micromanagement started and has become a bit of a stressful place to be at. Other than that not to bad.

Manager didnt know how to manage

The job was good but the manager has no clue how to be a manager. She was a salesperson and had no experience in being people manager. Highly unprofessional. I would not recommend anyone to work with her.

Points positifs

It was a job

Points négatifs

Bad manager

okay place to work

its Alright, nothing negative about the place, the town was not the best fit for me as it was less than 5 thousand people in that town. hard to get a transfer away

No review

It was a fine place to work when management knew what they were doing. Constant changes in management made it hard to align my self to the overall goal as it would change constantly

Profesional and growth oriented

This is a high level job where you are given enough training and resources to be successful at your job. You need to be aware of what you are doing and if you wish to be there. I will only recommend this to someone who has a passion for this as it is a very demanding job, but a lot of fun if you have a passion for it

Good

Good place to hone your skills and understand how a corporation works. Really listen to all the detail and question why they do the things they do. You will find the answers if you listen.
