Had to leave the job due to stress
CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE (Ancien employé) – Barrie, ON – 10 juin 2019
I really felt like the company didn't have their clients' best interest at heart. It was all about pushy sales and ringing a bell for every credit card sale (so embarrassing to do in front of clients). No matter how much you sold, it would never be enough. The managers would often stand behind tellers and listen to interactions. In 1 short year, we had 4 tellers leave. Despite the people working there being amazing, it felt like a very toxic environment.
The pay is laughable (I literally made more at my first job 10 years prior, after finishing university) and the benefits and a pension not even worth mentioning (pension after a life of service would amount to less than $1000 a month). The work-life balance was also non-existent with rarely getting 2 days off in a row and you had to beg for vacation which they wouldn't even line up with my husband's despite giving a year's notice.
typical day at work:
-start 30 min early without pay and finish 1-2 hours after closing also without pay while balancing
-sell, sell, sell
- this particular branch, the managers were lovely people but the pressure placed on them from above took its toll
-workplace culture - almost non-existent
- hardest part of the job - very little reward and incentives for very stressful and demanding job
- most enjoyable part of the job - dealing with clients, providing them with solutions, and working with great people
