Had to leave the job due to stress
CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE (Ancien employé) –  Barrie, ON10 juin 2019
I really felt like the company didn't have their clients' best interest at heart. It was all about pushy sales and ringing a bell for every credit card sale (so embarrassing to do in front of clients). No matter how much you sold, it would never be enough. The managers would often stand behind tellers and listen to interactions. In 1 short year, we had 4 tellers leave. Despite the people working there being amazing, it felt like a very toxic environment.
The pay is laughable (I literally made more at my first job 10 years prior, after finishing university) and the benefits and a pension not even worth mentioning (pension after a life of service would amount to less than $1000 a month). The work-life balance was also non-existent with rarely getting 2 days off in a row and you had to beg for vacation which they wouldn't even line up with my husband's despite giving a year's notice.

typical day at work:
-start 30 min early without pay and finish 1-2 hours after closing also without pay while balancing
-sell, sell, sell
- this particular branch, the managers were lovely people but the pressure placed on them from above took its toll
-workplace culture - almost non-existent
- hardest part of the job - very little reward and incentives for very stressful and demanding job
- most enjoyable part of the job - dealing with clients, providing them with solutions, and working with great people

Part- time Customer Service Representative (Ancien employé) –  Barrie, ON2 février 2015
The best part and most enjoyable part of my job were my interactions with the clients I helped each day. During my time with Cibc I learned great time management skills and the importance of doing everything right first time.

do not apply
Financial Services Representative, Barrie (Ancien employé) –  Barrie, ON13 août 2013
Management at all levels allows bullying and intimidation to occur daily. Your day will be telemarketing and dealing with jr grade school mentalities. Dont bother reporting anything or you get in trouble. I even saw one guy fired after bringing sexual harassment to the attention of upper management. If you chose to apply and get the job, dont take your coat off as you will not stay too long for the pay they give you and the work they demand.

Financial Services Representative (Ancien employé) –  Barrie, ON14 janvier 2013
The staff are the heart of every business and thats the front line staff. Generally very good, capeable and do their job. Problem comes in when the jobs keep changing, when the targets and expectations keep changing, when the systems change and when the reporting changes, pretty much all of the same time. Too much time is spent on reporting what you are doing or trying to do, and justifying that, instead of prospecting for new busines which is what the idea is. Also, districts need to focus on the differences in branches and make changes or adjustments to targets and requirements as requited. Some do better in one area but not in another, why reinvent the wheel, build on the strengths.
Points positifs
well know, good online banking, some good investment products
Points négatifs
inability to take into account regional differences, staff turn over, staff training, wages, benefits.
