they funnel people through like a revolving door. it’s a popularity contest. Most employees are not happy but don’t say anything to upper management. It’s not a long term employer. and you never feel safe. Management can make up any BS for your review and it doesn’t even need to be true.

Working at Chatters is very below mediocre honestly. I worked for a franchised location, which for some reason apparently made most of our policies different than the corporate locations, why; I don’t know. I am positive the owner also never ran any of these changes made out of personal decision ever past the district manager or the actual corporate side of Chatters. This would go on to screw over clientele and customers, making the retail employees and stylists to pick up & deal with the mistakes constantly made by management. There was very little training, very little direction and constant criticism for any sort of mistake made when no one guided you in the right direction when asking for help. The salon and store consisted of some of the most petty drama and gossip I’ve ever witnessed at a job. The manager and owner would also enjoy involving herself in spreading a lot of the gossip to employees that had no place being involved. A lot of these rumours consisted of personal issues or minor mistakes made. Passive aggressive notes were constantly put up around the salon, but the owner & manager never though to actually speak face-to-face with employees. Pay stubs were rarely provided. The owner and manager would also have moments of anger and kick over or throw items when no one was around (caught on cctv). Also witnessed them cussing & threatening a person accused of shoplifting. Unbelievable. The manager would frequently gaslight and play favourites so you never ever knew where you stood. No one leaves on good terms, the management makes this known once you put in your notice. - plus...

As an employee of chatter for 4+ years I have witnessed their decline of employee value first hand. Once proud and to work at Chatters now embarrassed and ready to run!. Its turned into a selfish ego driven "sell sell sell" should be their new motto. Insufficient training and unrealistic expectation. They will take advantage of their employees every opportunity they get! All the way from the top of the chain down.

Great for p/t or as an entry level job in retail/reception. Very little room for advancement as the company has moved away from internal promotions and prefer to hire from outside the company. Great for new/junior stylists as it's well known and busy. You will grow your clientele quickly and benefit from free classes. Corporate staff is changing quickly and this is no longer the warm, welcoming family owned company it once was. It is now a corporate machine, focuses on numbers rather than employees

I heard they have a new CEO and he is making positive changes within the organization. Great to hear as before it drama, drama, drama.

Basically if you don’t make a certain amount of money in business they will demote you. Fill you with promises and money and than just take it away. She is very gossiping with other staff members, never there. Excepts managers to do everything. Worst place I’ve ever worked

They are a great company to work for. They provide us with health benefits and for our families if needed. They are very family orientated and willing to work around family life. They provide a ton of free education and learning opportunities. The Management is fair and reasonable.

This is the best company I have ever worked for. The CEO & everyone apart of the management are absolutely wonderful. The company continuously provides employees with new education opportunities, always motivating us and helping us to improve and grow. I am proud to work for Chatters.

It was a fine experience for retail. I personally grew as an employee and gained valuable knowledge in a field that I am passionate about. Maintaining and exceeding cleanliness standards was a highlight of my tenure at Chatters.

Bad management, cuts shifts without notice down to a couple a week , so much drama and unprofessional work place environment I was there almost five years pulling extra long shifts when people didn’t show up or managers didn’t show up a lot of management change I had to pull extra long shifts or go in on days off because of the unreliable employees shift schedule change without even 24 hours notice

A lot of things have changed since I started working here and not for the best unfortunately. The most enjoyable part of my job is my regular clients and getting to know them better. The hardest part is not get recognized for the good work I do and there is lot of favouritism at this place. It is very hard to learn in the salon and I don't feel challenged at all.

Lots of bullying within the company but the company itself is good. Bullying isn’t just coworkers, management to. Didn’t believe all the reviews saying it was a problem until I started here myself.

I love working for chatters. The company cares about you and loves your growth by always paying for education. Management loves to make work fun and it is a great place for all types of stylist including apprentices. Would highly recommend Chatters

Chatters as a company could benefit if they took the time to get feedback from people actually working in the stores. Daily routines are fairly easy and enjoyable depending on one's management team. unfortunately the current, manager and district manager team my store has been given don't care about employee's well being and would rather see us suffer, quit or replace even the longest standing employees just so they don't have to reward good work with promotions or raises. The same management team takes no issue blaming their mistakes on us and can't own up to when they've done something wrong. As far as making friends, it was easy at this location but I know that is not the case for all locations however every location I've been to has had many great individuals who are open and friendly to new hires. overall I've met some of the best co-workers I've ever had, some of the worst management and a company that promotes a false positivity and could care less about the environment, money and lives of the people they expect to promote that positivity.

As a stylist working at chatters it was amazing being able to meet new people (customers) and the coworkers were always helpful and friendly.

As a Manager it is very fast pace and there is a lot of things to learn, but you get used to it. There is a structured schedule for payroll, ordering, and meetings. At times more training wouldn't hurt.


Overall a great environment; They also supply education so it is a bonus.

We were the salon at the airport so we were not that busy.
We had lots of training. Which was awesome.

We had discount cards to share with family and friends to attract more clients.

The district manager was awesome. Very helpful and encouraging.

The hardest part of the job was co workers.

Chatters has no problem paying poor wage amounts and and if someone complains it comes out of your pay, not chatters. They will do everything to please their clients even if it hurts their staff. They preach it's all about their stylist however that couldnt ve farther from the truth. Honestly, it's a good stepping stone but dont expect to be treated with respect or have your concerns heard. They say they care about upi but their actions prove differentBestadvancingthewill promise

Highly unprofessional team in the store that I worked in. Lots of gossip amongst staff, childish behaviour, almost zero training! My co manager was the least helpful with onboarding. She even stated I had to “prove” myself to the rest of the team. Least encouraging thing you could say to a new employee IMO!! I saved myself a headache and just quit after 2 weeks. The experience simply was not valuable to me, and I felt that my time and efforts were all being wasted. I was a manager, and my job was to manage and support fellow adults. Not children. Good luck to the company and the staff I worked with.

was a beauty consultant even though i’m a certified esthetician and they refused to give me the part, they were super discriminatory and ableist and once i quit; their attitude towards me was petty and overcharged me on the products/services
