Worst place to work ever! Beware!
Dispatcher (Ancien employé) - Cambridge, ON - 1 février 2023
This is by far the WORST experience I have ever experienced in the work force. The managers here are the most stuck up and are so afraid to see someone else grow that they will make you feel like your garbage. No work life balance. No respect No company culture you are always getting watched. This place is a mess and needs new management and staff and less discrimination. This place will give you mental health issues. Stay away!
Points positifs
Nothing
Points négatifs
You get treated like garbage

Great company to work for as a newbie!
Company Driver (Employé actuel) - Cambridge, ON - 19 janvier 2023
Fantastic finishing course, well organized and structured. Really setting you up for success. Dispatchers are competent and maybe not super quick but you are supported and taken care of. Awesome maintenance and break down program! You may work alone, but you're never on your own!
Points positifs
Great driver support, good pay, reliable, awesome culture

Don’t waste your time
Driver (Ancien employé) - Dorval, QC - 16 décembre 2022
I worked there for almost 1 year, biggest mistake I have ever made. In the beginning they sell you this big dream but you soon realize there all lies. How do they continue to win awards? Honestly they probably pay to win. Plus the management nothing but bullies and like to cover things up. Just terrible I wouldn’t even give 1 star
Points positifs
The day I left
Points négatifs
Everything

Points négatifs

Back stabbing everywhere and very low pay
AZ Truck Driver (Ancien employé) - Cambridge, ON - 18 octobre 2022
Would not work for a terrible sell out company where you really are disposable and just a number. No respect, do not care if you spend hours waiting at a boarder because it's always your fault. No support
Points négatifs
Bad maintenance, bad fleet, bad management, bad dispatch, terrible pay etc

Class 1A Driver LTL (Ancien employé) - Cambridge, ON - 23 août 2022
The team was great to work with, always friendly & helpful. Repairs were always done immediately and correctly. When a unit was miled out it was replaced.

driver (Ancien employé) - Abbotsford, BC - 10 août 2022
Great training program for new drivers. Have old equipment kept telling me I was going to get a new truck but that never happened. Truck was breaking down every week. Management is a Joke. Don't sign the 1 year contract !

Emplois et carrières chez Challenger Motor Freight Inc.
Typical trucking job
AZ Truck Driver (Employé actuel) - Cambridge, ON - 22 juillet 2022
They have a top notch training program for newly licensed drivers. If you're new to the industry its a great place to start But for the amount of time you're on the road away, the pay isn't really worth the sacrifice. Though challenger has good equipment and you will never be asked or forced to do anything illegal (operate faulty equipment, drive over your allowed HOS)
Points positifs
Good equipment, friendly co workers. Excellent training program
Points négatifs
Below average pay IMHO

Great Place To Start Your Career , But Not For Veteran Drivers
Transport Driver (Employé actuel) - Cambridge, ON - 19 juin 2022
It’s not the worst place to work. The company tries to offer drivers everything which can be a pro and a con. You’ll get free Sattellite Radio, brand new trucks, cafeteria, simulator training, etc. All the latest perks for a driver, but the pay is below average and the hours you’ll work will be at your limit. They have a breakdown department so if you’re broken down on the road it’s easy to reach someone to get you up and running. It’s just the pay they need to address. In some areas it’s ok. If you’re doing flatbed work you can make ok money. But with inflation hitting the economy your living expenses will eat into your pay check. I’ve been with them for 7years and will say this company has a lot of divisions for you to explore. You’ll just have to find something for your lifestyle.

If you want to work a lot they will keep you busy

Dorval branch is family oriented, they treat you like a person not a number…
Yard Driver Trainer & Local Driver (Employé actuel) - Dorval, QC - 3 avril 2022
Working at the Dorval branch of Challenger Motor Freight has been an amazing experience so far!! They are supportive, understanding, and family oriented. I have experienced many aspects of the company, from highway driver/driver trainer, dry van and heavy board, to city driver, to yard driver trainer, to helping out at recruiting events. This is the perfect company, especially for students coming out of schools cuz they prepare you fully to be out on the highways crossing the borders and living on the road safely as a trucker. And you get paid for the training!! Well maintained equipment (2016-2022 trucks; their own garage does the maintenance and repairs), bonuses, awards for safe/accident free driving, constant work, etc. I highly recommend Challenger Motor Freight Dorval branch!!!

Awful on so many levels
Safety and Compliance (Ancien employé) - Cambridge, ON - 30 mars 2022
I worked in the safety and compliance department for a few years - it was absolutely terrible. Dont' let their campaign of "putting our people first" fool you. They don't know the first thing about how to treat employees properly. They only thing that they put first is how much money they can make. Everything in this company is micromanaged and employees can't make any decisions on their own without feeling the wrath of their mangers. The only way to survive here is if you have no backbone and enjoy having the life sucked out of you.
Points positifs
Nice building
Points négatifs
Everything

Every thing is good but not few
City & Long Haul Driver (Ancien employé) - Abbotsford, BC - 20 mars 2022
Equipment is too old, routes are not good and fuel solutions need improvement not in favour of driver sleep or rest area and shower. They could give at least 5-7 fuel solutions for trips where ever drivers want to fill

Absolutely the worst.
Customer Service Representative (Ancien employé) - Cambridge, ON - 16 mars 2022
The management in every section of the Operations Department at Challenger by far worse than anything I have ever experienced in my entire life. I worked for this company for 5 years and the turn over rate is incredibly high for a reason. Every single employee from customer service to dispatch/planning is over worked, over stressed and underpaid. Anyone who shows they are a competent employee & capable of handling their duties with ease is then stacked with the responsibilities of another employee who shows nothing but laziness and incompetence. No word of a lie, this is a serious issue within Challenger that I have first hand experienced and witnessed in multiple areas of the operations department. When you follow the proper channels outlined to address issues within the company you are then ostracized by management AND HR. If you want to be over worker, under paid, treated poorly and disrespected by management/HR all the while sitting quietly, then this is 100% the place for you! Enjoy!
Points positifs
None.
Points négatifs
My entire review says it all.

Good for a first job, not long term
Driver Manager (Employé actuel) - Cambridge, ON - 20 février 2022
Things change once you’ve been working a few months there. It won’t take long for you to see the difference Backstabbing & belittling is normal You will meet some great staff that are in similar roles(not managers/supervisors) You’ll meet some great Drivers Owner, and top leadership members are great Trust no one How much stress/anxiety can you handle? Lots? Then you’ll be ok. Busy days, working with drivers. Getting loads to their destination.
Points positifs
Social committee, outdoor patio, decent cafeteria, large parking lot
Points négatifs
First few months are ok, then things change, everything else

Tense ~ lack of creative teaching methods ~ TERRIBLE management ~ lack of communication
Customer Service (Ancien employé) - Cambridge, ON - 18 janvier 2022
I started there with high hopes and excitement. I learned soon after that management was practically absent 24/7 and when they were they spent their time nit picking and gaslighting me. Nothing I ever did was good enough. I went from excited to anxious, stressed and resentful in less than 3 months.
Points négatifs
Poor management
