Long hours for NO Rewards

If you’re looking to start a career in Class 1 driving. Be warned with this company! The people are generally nice and the equipment is regularly maintained, but thats is because it’s in the shop getting repaired weekly for most of their fleet, which means down time for You! The biggest issue is the money it’s Less than 0.50 cents a mile and there isn’t many trips to make those miles up. In other words you wont make any livable wage with these guys period! They also get you to sign a 12 month contract on top of the 7 weeks training, which is less than basic BC wage. If you don’t complete the 12 month contract regardless if you leave for Any Reason be it personal or medical they pass that on to debt collection agency’s and you will have to fight them through Legal means to win.

Great for new drivers

New drivers are well taken care of, strongly encourage. The area is well maintained I.e. Washrooms showers and lounge. No forced dispatch, friendly dispatch who know you by your name and not only by your truck number.

Poorly Run

Inconsistent miles. Sitting around for days waiting to get a load. Sometimes 1700 miles a week….if you’re lucky. When you get a load, there’s no empty trailers. You search the yard and then start going to all the customers where there may be an empty, but probably not. Planners and dispatch give good loads to their buddies. Constant conflict with management who take no accountability for their responsibilities, instead they just blame others. Some dispatch employees still have no clue after a few years on the job. This puts added burden on the ones who want to do a good job and make a difference. You can see the office support staff is so poorly managed that it shows in their lack of motivation. There’s a lot of talented people there whose skills are being wasted. The pay is poor, not only by $/mile but by limited miles. You cannot support a family on what they give you. I can only assume the other areas of the business are feeling this stress too, which again leads to a poor work culture.

Don’t waste your time

I worked there for almost 1 year, biggest mistake I have ever made. In the beginning they sell you this big dream but you soon realize there all lies. How do they continue to win awards? Honestly they probably pay to win. Plus the management nothing but bullies and like to cover things up. Just terrible I wouldn’t even give 1 star

The day I left

Great place to start but Run away after a year and dont look back

Great training program for new drivers. Have old equipment kept telling me I was going to get a new truck but that never happened. Truck was breaking down every week. Management is a Joke. Don't sign the 1 year contract !

Good place, dispatch was fair with lots of miles.

Couple bad apples in company, but that is true with all, over all experience was fantastic, I would work with them again. So if you're looking for a challenging career look at Challenger Motor Freight, they will work with you.

High responsibility, reasonable expectations, good communication

Good place to work. Excellent new driver training program *****. Would still be working there if they had a Maritimes presents /runs. New equipment, good tools. Steady work. Lots of Automotive runs with tight time lines, (do able if you know your routes). Friendly Driver Coordinators.

Points positifs

Nice washrooms/shower facilities/free laundry

Points négatifs

Long hours, Away from home as driver

New drivers never join them, they gonna exploit you

very bad management, they will train you and then tie you in contract, never do a contract with them because then you are stuck with them for a year and they will exploit you and your time in every possible way. You will be working 14-16 hours in all parts of US and Canada earning less than minimum wage. Its really frustating every day at work. Fake promises by them when signing contract. After that you will not find even a single person in manangement who will listen to you.BIG ADVICE STAY AWAY

Points positifs

paycheck on time

Points négatifs

bad management, exploitation, nobody cares about drivers on road, very less pay

They take advantage of new drivers limited experience

Long hours away from home more than promised. Not always paid properly. Days spent waiting in other parts of the country and USA to receive another load assignment. When calculated I was working for $12.00 or less most of the time.

Terrible place to work

They lie , they give false promises and are always micro managing. If you want to be let down on a daily basis then this is the right place for you. If you want a lufe balace run away fast.

low pay and poor communication

Great equipment and maintenance. there is a lack of communication between drivers and managers and dispatchers always give you the answer you want to hear to get rid of you but never address the issue.

Good place to start

Good starting point for a career in driving. Poor wages and nothing to help for a drivers future. Pension, rrsp, etc. I have a great dedicated Toyota run.

this company is very stressfull

the dispatchers can be very bad and ill tempered. they don't full care about the drivers. the trucks can be good. if u get the ride one, others have issues non stop. if you live far away, plan to be gone for awhile.

Great management but bad work

The management was great but way to much of it . The work was bad and spread to thin and even though managers were not supposed to favor the senior drivers they did anyway. And when brought to HR 's attention they where reprimanded (manager) but they still favored senior drivers. So it made it hard to make any money for the time spent. Ànd u just would have to leave.

Too Many Issues

Shop is terrible, low pay per mile compared to other companies, they will try to pin any accidents on you even if you go in confident that you did nothing wrong, seems like they focus on image to customers at the expense of drivers. Too much flash not enough cash even though they have a "new pay package". Notice they don't advertise their rates online like other companies do? Lots of trucks sitting in the yard with no drivers to move them. Red flag.

Points positifs

Ok training

Big company, small minded attitude!

Drivers Beware ! Worst year of my driving career. Lies a part of their culture. Driver Managers manipulate the drivers, long haul jobs cut short in the midwest, they make you switch loads in areas that have no backhauls, so you sit for days, and make nothing. Poorly equipped trucks. trucks with small bunks for teams, Way too much downtime away from home terminal.Do yourself a favor, and steer clear!
