Highly micromanaged

The only thing good about this place was my coworkers. Without them I never would have survived here. Challenger is only good to gain experience so that you can move on to better things. They don’t have what it takes to keep employees long term. They operate like a corporate office but they pay sure doesn’t match up to their expectations.

Watch out for the two-faced dispatchers

Training department is phenomenal. Best you can ask for, but be prepared to have to pay them back because you are treated like dirt afterwards. You are underpaid. Plain and simple. The dispatcher will ask you to break the law and get mad at you when you refuse. Any concerns you may have, they will find a round about way to punish you and even threaten you at times when you use actual logic and common sense against their outright lunacy.

Points positifs

Training program

Points négatifs

Everything else.

Productive and pleasant environment

understanding the trucking work place and the drivers point of view. staff members of Safety dept. was enjoyable to work with. but not enough communication between management and the staff. too much separation between dept.

Great Training

For a new guy, they offer great training, you will manage almost everything important as a truck driver. I still benefit from their training even I left a long time ago. They love short haul, 2 day job plus boarder crossing, no chance to get a big mileage. With entry level payment, you'll be surprised how less a class 1 driver can make.

Depending on the season, the work becomes more challenging.

Excellent training

There’s good training here and they really clearly care about their employees. Management checks in with you regularly and makes sure you have everything you need to be successful.

Points positifs

The teammembers you interact with are all great people too.

Points négatifs

You’re definitely checked in on sometimes, and for some people that can be challenging, for me it wasn’t an issue, your supervisors essentially are just making sure you’re good and on time.

Long hours for NO Rewards

If you’re looking to start a career in Class 1 driving. Be warned with this company! The people are generally nice and the equipment is regularly maintained, but thats is because it’s in the shop getting repaired weekly for most of their fleet, which means down time for You! The biggest issue is the money it’s Less than 0.50 cents a mile and there isn’t many trips to make those miles up. In other words you wont make any livable wage with these guys period! They also get you to sign a 12 month contract on top of the 7 weeks training, which is less than basic BC wage. If you don’t complete the 12 month contract regardless if you leave for Any Reason be it personal or medical they pass that on to debt collection agency’s and you will have to fight them through Legal means to win.

Great for new drivers

New drivers are well taken care of, strongly encourage. The area is well maintained I.e. Washrooms showers and lounge. No forced dispatch, friendly dispatch who know you by your name and not only by your truck number.

Hard to get good miles

Been there for almost a year now, going away 4-6 weeks at a time, never late, always keep them updated on my eta, gentle on gas, no safety issues, no violation.Had some 3000+miles/week, but their logistics is inefficient, they'll end your day and next morning they send you to one of their yard to pu a trl that was there since 2 days. They're constantly training new driver and all good drivers struggle to get miles. It's a rookie mill and they want it to stay this way so it's cheap drivers. Averaging 2000-2500$/week

Terrible overall

Worked here for a few years and at first it seemed ok, but then I began to realize how much effort this company puts into maintaining an image that just doesn’t exist. Nice shiny new trucks and a fancy building are what you see on the outside, but inside it’s nothing but an organization with severely underpaid employees, bad managers and rampant favortism. I honestly have no idea how they keep winning all those awards…. especially the one for best managed companies. They have an extremely high rate of turnover that a revolving door should be placed at the front of the building.

Points positifs

None

Points négatifs

Bad pay, bad management
