Carmacks is a great employer and treats the employees fair. It is a growing corporate company but still holds the small company feel, you aren't just a number and family is important. If visiting head office, the president takes his time to check in and see how you are doing. This shouldn't be a big thing but reality is, it is!! I've been here 10+ years and there are still a lot of the same faces. Educating and helping employees grow and improve is something that is always being promoted, I appreciate the opportunities that I have been given to expand my knowledge and experience within my field.

I worked at carmacks when I was 16. It was a wonderful summer job and I absolutely loved the staff. It’s not an easy job but it’s a good learning experience.

I work at night shift it is though but the people there and the foreman are great leader. And the company really care of the people. Good place for work. And the salary is fare.

No communication. Management is terrible and will take advantage of you if they get the chance. Pay isn't fair for the job and they don't take safety seriously. If you have an incident of any sort they hold it over you and use it as an excuse not to advance you or give you a raise. High turnover, obviously.

Dont trust them when thay say in 3 mouths you will get a raise if you are good and pass your probation

They don't give you raises when they say they will and if they do takes them 4 mouths to get there always scared off messing up as if you do you will not get a raise management is no good at there job just lies after lies with them. If you don't care about any of this then go with them. There pay is is no were it should be with the growing expenses you pay for your benefits and you loses 200 a mouth on that alone

Working as a bridge laborer was interesting. I did enjoy my time with them and would go back if I needed. Some employees are better then others but that's the same everywhere.Overall good place to work if you don't mind working graveyard shifts.Management was going through changes when I left.

If a worker dont like you he or she will do want they can to get you fired like talking to the supervisor and talking to the owner. They are people there that is out to cut someone throat so they dont have a job to be able to live and others who are friendly.

Great place to work 7 on 7 off 12 hr shifts just need to pay a better wage.Need a pension plan.Good benefits.Need better training and communication between the 4 crews, seems like every crew does the work differently. Need to implement a standard across the board.

Don't get injured or your fired. I liked the variety of jobs rarely bored. A mix of good and not so good people like anywhere. Great benefits. Night shift isn't my thing.

You're expected to work a huge amount of overtime, often with little to no notice. The people you work with are good. Management is horrible and the work days are extremely long.

Great environment, good people. My short time there was enjoyable. The hours I worked were reasonable. (7 on, 7 off; 12 hr night shifts). Supervisor was very helpful and encouraging.
