The worst part about working at Carea is the lack of “care” and recognition of staff for the hard work they do. We are taken advantage of constantly and are under appreciated. A little appreciation would be nice. Small gestures and kind words go a long way. We have voiced these concerns and are told, “well we did this one thing for you last year”...that’s nice and we appreciate it, but appreciation is not a one time event. Appreciation is ongoing.

Yes, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), the Canadian equivalent of the American FBI, gets involved with each and every applicant. A visit to the local police department is not sufficient.

The culture is what you make if it. I find it an excellent place to work, my time is valuable, I can manage my time and clients myself, I have the chance to grow and learn. Leadership is trying to create change to staff who cannot or will not be open to change. You can't go back in time. Carea will once again be an employer of choice once they get rid of the negative staff that spew rumours about their workplace. Why would you work in a place that you can post negative comments about on this platform.

Those in leadership positions pad their pockets with government funding and leave frontline workers high and dry, and then blame “the government” for the lack of financial resources to pay their employees a living wage.

I am not sure how I feel about the future of this agency. At this point it feels hopeless as we keep crying out for help but are constantly rejected and things stay the same. But i am hopeful that things can change and that leadership and HR will try to listen to what we are saying. I do hope they will prove me correct.

We are open Monday to Friday, opening at 8:00 am. Medical services are available 2 nights a week until 8:00 pm. We have groups running in the evenings that are run by health promoters and community development workers.

I would treat them like professionals who have knowledge and experience. They are very fortunate that we stay here when we are so often disrespected. Decisions get made without frontline staff being consulted. And these decisions affect our day to day work and client care. They then cause undue stress for us. The answer: just work collaboratively with us. Ask us how we do our work and what we need to do our work. Support us and ask us what we think is best rather than telling us what you (as management) think is best.

I was interviewed recently for a position here. The process was not collaborative at all. I was interviewed by one manager only, and she didn’t seem to have any clincial experience at all. The whole process was extremely disorganized, such as HR double booked candidates and I had to wait almost an hour before my interview.
