Good company

I've had a great experience working with them. Lost a star due to minor issue: communication sometimes not the best. Otherwise, no further complaints...

Good

A bit of uncertainty going into to the situation, but overall good employer, accountable and reliable. No concerns. Communication is slow - but knowing who to speak with about things makes the process faster. Would recommend for a traveling employer.

Terrible job security/communication with company

I have done 3 travel contracts for this company which were great, however I reached out awhile ago to secure a 4th contract and they literally don’t respond to any emails. I had very positive experiences every time I went so it doesn’t make any sense. But this company doesn’t care leaving you high and dry for work!

Points positifs

Contract work

Points négatifs

This company will ghost you

Abusive Environment

Extremely hostile and abusive environment, management is well known for being toxic. Inconsistent communication, job roles changing daily. Since you are contract employees there is no job stability and they can fire you without cause. No benefits. They recently laid off a large number of staff only to hire managers in their place.

Points positifs

Remote

Points négatifs

Bad management, bad company culture

Do not work here

Extremely stressful, terrible culture, hire people as contractors so that it is easier to terminate them, ludicrous expectations with no support, constant restructuring based on whether the CEO likes you or not or if you have pushed back or do not agree with pretty much anything!

CHL is good but…

The good: You will get your hours. Many places have potential for overtime if you want it. If you bring your own vehicle, you can travel freely on your days off. The pay is exceptional. The staff at my facility are mostly wonderful. You can choose your own schedule which is wonderful. The bad: I was promised I could bring my pet with me. This was not the case. Pet friendly accommodations are non-existent in this area. I feel they were not honest with this. You may end up with a surprise roommate. A few nurses ended up with someone without being told. That isn’t CHL’s fault but someone should be informing us to expect someone. Chances are, you will be working VERY understaffed. It’s the nature of the beast. It also means that you will be doing the work of care workers, LPN’s along with your duties as an RN. You are to inform CHL if this happens but nothing ever comes of it. Sometimes concerns aren’t handled or not handled in an appropriate amount of time. Expect some resentment from regular staff with regards to your pay rate. CHL is a good agency to work for, but like everywhere, there could be improvement.

Competitive pay and straightforward application process

I found my contract with this company very smooth and easy. The only difficulty I faced was on my own end with my own human resources department. I really enjoyed my contract with Canadian Health Labs

Love to work here!

CHL is just amazing. I really don’t understand why it’s received the negative reviews it has.The people are so helpful. It’s not a very old company, things take time to fall into place. And I believe those who are getting into roles at CHL should know that this is what they’re getting into - newer companies take time to build up.It’s not stressful and the moment it gets overwhelming, theres always someone to help us out! Definitely a very positive work environment. Not at all toxic.

Great Company and Management!

The management and various departments are very collaborative. I learn new things every day with the guidance of my director, manager, and more tenured employees. The management team, especially the international team, is very competent, supportive, and friendly. The pay, working environment, and work-life balance are great.

Points positifs

pay, working environment, and work-life balance

Points négatifs

You must be a self-starter, and sometimes you must figure things out on your own, especially if you're doing remote work.

Couldn't have asked for better

The administrative/management team is amazingly supportive and have your back I interacted with about a dozen staff throughout my hiring and employment and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about each person. CHL really seems to care about their workers and you can tell.

Points positifs

Pay, management team, coworkers, travel

Points négatifs

Travel, no health benefits plan

Awesome experience

Just started my first travel assignment with CHL. First lesson is to trust the process, everyone has been so helpful thus far. Great team to work with I would definitely recommend.

Management

I worked with them as a psw in New Brunswick 2022. This company is not organized at all. The okay is good, rental car was okay but the staffs managing the company are worse. Sine just finished high-school managing people that are way older. The listen more to the clients than their staffs members, they are very selfish and partial. They kept favoring one particular staff giving her extra shift and leaving the remaining psws behind. The hotel was useless thing. They never like to be confronted of wrong doing. I told them I quit since they prefer listening to the clients rather than on their staffs. Avoid this company at all cost. I did not regret my decision. It was for my sanity.

Points positifs

Rental car with pre paid gas card

Points négatifs

Clients are right, staffs are wrong.

Avoid at all costs - I can't imagine a worse company to work for

On the corporate side, you will be expected to work 7 days a week at all hours of the day (CEO calling you incessantly before the day has started, 1am meetings, etc.) with no time off. They over-hire, just to let people go out of nowhere, with no concern that these people have families to feed and have left other secure employment for this company. The people that don't get let go, quit. The employee retention is abysmal. The way the CEO speaks to people is deplorable. Not to mention the sheer disorganization of the company. They bite off more than they can chew, rather than take the time to work out the kinks in the government contracts they already have. As a contracted nurse, you might not know any details about where you're getting deployed / where you're living until the literal day of!I could go on, but you get the picture. As a nurse, there are so many other well-established agencies to choose from. On the corporate side, avoid this company unless you're absolutely desperate.

Points positifs

remote working

Points négatifs

Toxic & unprofessional work culture

Opportunity to explore NL and meet incredible people

Like any new contract as one of the first RNs arriving, there were a few hiccups. CHLs leadership always responded quickly and found a solution. An amazing opportunity to explore NL. I met new friends for life(local & other travel nurses). NL people are so welcoming and supportive, I decided to go back again. I highly recommend giving contract work a go, you get to meet new people, travel and then return home. There are so many opportunities.

Points positifs

free travel & accommodations

Points négatifs

potential away from home but you can always come back to visit.

Fast Paced Environment With Exceptional Management and Team Leading

I worked with CHL as a contracted Registered Nurse. I found the management to be incredibly supportive and encouraging, even during the most stressful of days. The managers are true leaders, which is so incredibly important in the world of healthcare -- leadership helps us feel like we are all a part of the same team. I loved my experience with CHL and I can't wait to work with them again in the future.

This is a fly-by-night numbered company with no professional standards

Be very cautious if you choose to accept any contract work. Ensure that everything in terms of conditions and compensation are written into the agreement.

Loved the work, * but…*

I worked as a remote admin, i’d go to different locations around fredericton and around NB and provide admin assistance to nurses at covid vaccination/testing sites. I only had this job from the end of January to the end of March, and in those 3 months I had maybe 4 or 5 shifts? I was told through the job ad that i applied for that it was 50-60 hours a week full time. And then everyone’s contracts ended abruptly at the end of march after already being told that they were being extended into april. soooo yeah..I’ll break it down like this: pros: * working with healthcare staff was amazing *entry level, great way to find out if you’re a good fit for healthcare administration*good pay, plus paid travel and travel expenses * some sites only took an hour but you’d get paid for 4 hours, per site.cons: * disorganized management / upper management , bad communication ( for example some people were told there is no dress code and then got in trouble on site for not following the dress code.) Not everyone is told the exact same thing. * no notice for travel - i’d get called on a sunday afternoon asking me to drive 3 hours north that night, and I can’t even drive a car. * very few actual shifts to go around, especially compared to how many people they seemed to hire. i can’t say for certain, but it really seemed to me like they over anticipated how many people they would need and how many clinics and sites there would be from Feb onwards and hired too many people. I literally worked *maybe* 5 times. This could be a pro for someone looking for more casual work to balance -

Avoid at all costs

Truly the worst company I have ever worked for. Terrible from the top down. They don’t care about their “employees” aka contractors. They hire you this way (contract) so they can cut you at any moment they find you no longer useful. They are currently trying to get into travel healthcare/nursing/staffing and they have no idea what they are doing. They have no business in healthcare and are extremely unprofessional. Avoid at all costs.
