The CRA used to be a decent employer. However over time they have fallen behind in wages for what they expect from their employees. Benefits are alright, especially for younger employees planning on having children.
Collections Contact Officer (Summer Student) (Ancien employé) – Toronto, ON – 29 janvier 2019
I worked at the CRA as a summer student. It was an interesting and unforgettable experience. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. It's a great place to develop your career. The training is great and the managers are very supportive.
Senior Investigator (Employé actuel) – Ottawa, ON – 20 janvier 2019
Criminal investigations take a longtime and can be frustrating to complete an investigation that results in criminal charges. Most cases don’t result in criminal charges but it is very satisfying when charges are laid and even more satisfying when a conviction is publicized.
This job is not for everyone. It may seem glamorous and exciting but there is lots of red tape and reports to write.
Senior Customs Liaison Officer HQ, Customs Officer (Ancien employé) – Windsor and Ottawa Ontario – 8 janvier 2019
My work with Customs prepared me for very quick and well respected marks for passing the Customs Brokers Professional Course. Well respected job within the community of importers and exporters. Prestigious job with a lot of pride in the work I was doing. Obtained a side job teaching the Customs Course to full time students at St. Clair College.
Government job with great benefits. Very rewarding work.
Having to learn French, fluently once I moved to Ottawa, Didn't get much of a chance to find appropriate courses, to take
Too secure, too much routine, too much in a cubicle but good work-life balance
Taxpayer Services Agent (Employé actuel) – Toronto, ON – 19 décembre 2018
The job does introduce a lot of basic technical and practical theory and knowledge of taxes. Learned a lot during the training and on the job. But soon everything becomes too redundant and routined. Normal 9 to 5 job. Don't take work home. Stress-free.
Not much room for advancement and growth opportunities.
People are easy-going. Management is friendly. But not much time to socialize because you are either on the phones in your cubicle or your own break. Not much social life there.
