Don't waste your time! Doesn't worth! As a claim processor you will be least rewarded compared to other positions! Only take this position if you want to break your back!

Micromanaged with very high quotas and constant nit-picking. Hire several in the fall and tell them we intend to hire everyone on in 12 months. Historically we hire less than 10%. Didn't used to be this way.

Underpaid/ overworked/ favoritism/supporting harassment.
Was great before, undergoing changes and all became crazy. Micro management, unattainable goals, toxic working atmosphere.

restriction is fairly high to transfer the department.

Don't get me wrong, it is very hard at first or for the first few months but once you get the hang of it, it is very easy and lay back. Getting promoted is quick as long as you are showing dedication and performing great. Team leaders are great too, very friendly and provides positive atmosphere.

A typical day was processing claims. Learned alot about all the different kinds on claims. The managment was helpfully and there for you. Work place was alot of people doing the same work. Hardest part of the job was knowing what claims went where and how to process them correctly. Working by yourself but help was there when you needed it.

The company is large so there is room to advance however you have to spend a year or more in each position before advancing. Management is not very strong in addressing issues and they expect a great deal of work for poor compensation

This company is just a great company to get into if you want to work and climb. The only reason I left was to attend University. The job I had itself sucked, but that was the nature of the job. If one can stick out the lower grade level jobs, there is real potential for advancement in this company.

Everyone made you feel comfortable and welcomed when you're just starting out there. The work environment is great, management has very kind and amazing people.

Great entry level position at GWL. Atmosphere is wonderful and managers are incredible. Downfall is parking costs $111 per month and one year contract.

This job does not pay well enough for what is required by it's employees. They do however offer a great work/life balance and have been really great in allowing me time away from work.

Great West Life is great if you are simply looking for an office job. It is easy to get hired but there are infinite people that have been there longer than you which will make career growth next to impossible.

Read this before even thinking of applying to this job.

First off - this is a one year temporary contract with no guarantee of getting hired on. I can almost guarantee that probably at least 80% of the candidates who get hired end up being let go. No matter how hard you work, you always feel like it's never enough. There's always a TA or supervisor looking over your shoulder or being on your case about meeting goals. Even if you are .5% off your goal, they will still drill you about it. Not only is this job mentally draining, but the quality and productivity goals you are expected to meet are ridiculous and unrealistic. The only way you can possibly meet the goals is if you put in extra time without getting paid for it. At $14.69/hr, I certainly wasn't going to put in extra time for nothing when I knew my efforts were still going to remain unnoticed. It's bad enough that $105/mth went to parking alone - and even worse, in a lot 10-15 minutes away from my building. I had to walk to and from work 10-15 minutes every single day... I don't even want to know what Winters are like there. It's funny how much they expect from their employees and how badly they treat you once you're not meeting their expectations.


This department is a joke and has a high employee turnover rate. I didn't learn about this fact until a couple of months into the role. I didn't even last 6 months into the role. They don't even give you a warning when they plan on letting you go. One day, you're taken into an office where you sit with your direct supervisor and the senior manager. The supervisor repeats

A typical day involves signing in to your computer system, checking daily updates and receiving claims to examine. It learnt the different types of insurances as well as procedures necessary for processing them. Management i very good, helpful and supportive as well as co-workers although management does push excessively for results.
my hardest part will have to be the constant pressure from supervisors and most enjoyable part is the friendly co workers.

it is a good start for newly graduates. job can be very stressful during winter time.up side is working time is very flexible. it is all base on honor system. coworkers are very nice and extremly hard-working.
