I think the level of satisfaction depends on what business unit you end up in. If it's Operations, chances are you're better off elsewhere. Project... seems like they give you the moon. Better work hours, annual bonuses, etc.

I'm not complaining too much because I chose to stay in this job. I was much happier when I worked remotely, but policy has changed and everyone is compelled to work in the office. This has greatly upset my work / life balance. The locations in Montreal do not have free parking, but most are easily accessible by public transit. Food options tend to be limited, so pack a lunch as well.

Middle aged women with hair in buns that have been there 20 years doing the work of engineers. Unfriendly atmosphere. There's a few old timers that think their special.

The CGI business unit employing me is currently evolving towards a new model.
This evolution is slow and often results in delays resulting in periods of imposed slower work pace.

Working as a consultant, the needs of the client are critical and that drives work hours, climate etc but CGI tried to create climate to support their consultants during placements on client sites. They had group and departmental meetings off site and encouraged their employees to attend to continue to network with other CGI associates.

In their fanatical pace to acquire companies, and IT contracts; they gloss over individuals and their skills, they purchased in those acquisitions. Many of those acquired jobs, go to their cheaper resources and force those individuals acquired here in Canada,to either sit on bench or do other things than what they did before CGI's acquisition of them. Unless you have proactive, good managers and good management practices, you will be left to fend for yourself, with threat of the door shown to those who to not assimilate, or change according to client needs,versus, following what they have spent their lives and careers developing, before being acquired by CGI.

Pros:
- Good company to work with work/life balance.

- Job Security as they have many projects to fit in your skillset


Cons:

- Salary/Benefits are not great.

- Old/experienced employees are paid less than new hires.

- No proactive technical training sessions are conducted to build the skillset of employees.

Raises and bonuses are few and far between. Sent us home to telecommute in 2012 so not to pay us a raise. Brought us back full time in 2018 with no compensation. Too many regulations and constantly changing policies based on the management of the month.

Overall a good company.

The pay is good and so is the benefit. But the premium for the long term disability is insanely high. I don't know why and am not sure what percentage of employees used it. 1%? I don't know.


The career path for non-technical employees is very clear, and seems much easier to achieve, compared to the care path for the technical employees.


The care path for technical employees however is also clear but is very hard to achieve. For more than 95% developers, Senior Consultant will be the title of their whole lifetime.


There is almost no salary increase; and bonus? what is that?

Good Place to Learn and keep Growing. They have many projects and huge number of clients. Benefits is also really good. Compensation is reasonable. Management is horrible.

• Maintaining system balance and integrity of multiple TSM server instances & CommVault Backup Applications for multiple clients. Ensuring successful database backups at all times. Verifying that all migrations and backup storage pools are emptied and completed.

• Analyzing and determining whether there is adequate storage space available at all times. Taking corrective measures for new SAN storage space via work orders if deem necessary. Formatting and assigning to their proper policy domains.




• Daily overall checks on volumes, looking for tape degradation. Dealing with any failed backups and taking appropriate action, according to the details specified in AR-Remedy or Chorus or ITSM or Maximo or Infoman by the Helpdesk-ETOC group.


• Other duties including monitoring and troubleshooting of both StorageTek SL8500 libraries and four IBM 3584 libraries using the GUIs and ACSLS and Gresham consoles. Verifying drives and robots for any failures and taking appropriate actions with ORACLE support for hardware replacement.


• Supply CGI’s monthly Volumetric reports for my managers and all concerned parties. These reports give accurate details of any data movement, being backups, restores, and backup copy pools, depending on their SLA’s for both backup applications.


• Creating and maintaining procedures for all actions taken to resolve pertinent issues while respecting company policies and guidelines.


• Do monthly on-call pager duties.

This position was not a career chose but was thrust upon me as our entire IT department was out-sourced to CGI. Initially there was some hard feelings and skepticism, however it was soon realized that they were a good company to work for and cared about it's employees. CGI provided many opportunities, training and support to enable me to learn and flourish in my career.

Friendly environment, I worked with a great team. Nice culture, however the majority of positions are sent to offshore. Good benefits. Management changed recently and they should try to know better the employees.

Very business oriented. Not as much fun to work at as other environments.Managers do not hesitate to lay people off when business is not as projected.

Raises were infrequent. Usually had a re-org in Sept (fiscal year-end)
Stock purchase was a good deal they match you up to 3%.

Depending on the project days could be very long. Clients were varied and we provided their IT Dept. Most of the people I worked with were knowledgeable and easy to get along with.

it is a better company to work for people who does not worry about spending time with the family.The employees are shown to the client like warriors but in reality the employees are slaves who does not have other choice than work work work finally get half a peanut as yearly increment or do 40 hours of overtime a week and not get paid or time off.
