I grew up spending summers travelling with a carnival in the U.S visiting my mother an stepfather and working different game and food concessions. When my marriage ended I went back out on the road with a Canadian carnival company and have been with them for 12 seasons now. I manage a food concession and really like the couple that I work for. My co workers vary from season to season as people come and go and I enjoy the challenge of training and getting to know new people, however brief it may be for. This job is very hard and is not for everybody. We work from the first week of March until mid September and typically play a different town every week. Sometimes 2 to 4 different locations in the same week, which involves setting up, tearing down and driving everything as well.I do love the job, always will, but I am getting tired of the pace and am ready for a change. Something that will allow me to have a stable home in my off time as well as benefits which are not available to me at my current position.
Having seasonal work, 6-7 months on with 5 off in the winter. Travelling thru BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan
Long hours, 7 days a week for the entire season, as well as driving a 53 foot trailer 2-3 times a week, sometimes up to 16 hours to the next location, while everyone else sleeps!
