Peer Tutor (Ancien employé) – Burnaby, BC – 9 avril 2019
I had understanding profs who valued the hard work and were always available to help. after graduation I found a job within 2days, because what one learns at BCIT is exactly what is need at the job and interview the person for.
I loved working at BCIT because it was a fantastic place to work and learn.
Peer Mentor (Ancien employé) – Burnaby, BC – 5 mars 2019
I would go to the indigenious services after class to help other students and co workers with ceremonial tasks and projects. It has been one of the most enjoyable working experiences that I have ever had,.
Not enough hours in the day to finish all the assignments.
Railroad Rules Instructor (Ancien employé) – Vancouver, BC – 9 février 2019
Was an exciting and challenging place to work at, no dull moment. Excellent Managers. From my point of view, I really enjoyed training new students for a career on the Railway making good money and enjoying all benefits a Company and Unions can afford to give.
Power Engineer (Ancien employé) – Student – 21 janvier 2019
This is school, so ive learned many great things. HVAC, operation systems, instrumentation, operating on low and high pressure boilers, applied science, and maintanance. Instructors cares a lot about the students
Server/Cashier (Ancien employé) – Burnaby, BC – 14 janvier 2019
BCIT offers a lot of part-time programs. Students can take classes in the evening, weekends. This helps a lot for people who work during day time. I hope BCIT could offer more program choices and focuses on improving students employment rate.
Generally a pleasant place to work although red tape can be testing at times
AV Installation (Employé actuel) – Burnaby, BC – 13 décembre 2018
Really like working here, nice people, challenging and interesting work. Red tape and business processes could be improved. Two main unions here are BCGEU and FSA, generally good. Not sure about how management treated but mostly seem happy working here.
Great place to work and grow your career but don't expect a fulltime position
Instructor (Employé actuel) – Burnaby, BC – 18 novembre 2018
Great place to work and being an instructor. PTS is better than FTS due to level of flexiblity to customize the course outline. However, don't expect a full time position due to senior instructors not retiring and most of the departments have stopped hiring on full time basis due to various reasons - enrollement, benefits, others
Need to align courses better with workplace requirements
Administrative Assistant (Ancien employé) – Burnaby, BC – 22 août 2018
Student Services Management are terrible. It used to be a good place to work, but over the last few years has gone downhill. No appreciation or respect. The office is not managed properly and has become toxic. Management wonders why the Employee Engagement Survey produced such low numbers in all aspects. Sometimes money just isn't enough.
Peer Tutor (Employé actuel) – Burnaby, BC – 3 mai 2018
This a very good place to work. all instructors and staff are very polite and helpful. Learning commons team is very concise and very organized team. It's a very challenging environment to learn and tutor. I love to work there.
If you enjoy coworkers smiling in front of you and then behind your back talking smack about you, join BCIT. I worked in an area that is supposed to be dictated by your own work pace but that was quickly thrown out the window. Be careful of the your coworkers here, salary is okay and work is easy enough. Would have made a wonderful permanent job if it wasn’t for the work culture here represented by the awful culture and disrespect.
Open the lab. do your homework, then clean and lock up when your done. Easy money.
Lab Supervisor (Ancien employé) – Burnaby, BC – 26 avril 2018
Such an easy job. You open the lab for the students, do your home work in the lab, then clean close the lab. You are just there to make sure no one steals anything and to clean up once your done. Cleaning is just coiling a few wires, and making sure everything is in its place. Since the students a trained to put everything away when they are done there often isn't any mess the clean. you don't even need to talk with your boss outside of the first day.
You're going to be at school after hours anyways, might as well make some free money.
Easy, Get paid to do your homework, No boss.
Lots of competition for the job. No guarantee of getting it next year.
