Previous armed guard
Armed Guard (Ancien employé) –  Calgary, AB4 novembre 2019
If you like working night shifts then this would be a good place to work, as your first shifts for some good time will be night shifts because it is seniority based

Worst company! Do not apply!
Armoured Security Guard (Ancien employé) –  Kelowna, BC1 novembre 2019
This company is the worst, and their Union is just as bad, management, it was like they took whom ever applied and they didn’t take the best candidate for the manager.

don't bother applying
Armed Guard (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC20 octobre 2019
Company expects you to be available any time and any day in order to get full time shifts but keeps on changing your shifts after the schedule has been posted. No work life balance at all. Most people call in sick if they don;t want those shifts and other honest and hard working people has to suffer as a result.

Everyone in my training class has already left this company in less than 4 months after the 2 weeks training class. Waste of my time. Other courier companies pay a dollar less but offer stead work hours with benefits and day day shifts only.

And yes, you need to work a lot of overnight shifts here if you want more hours but this was not mentioned during the interview.

worst company ever
Tech.driver (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC18 octobre 2019
Most managers and supervisors are clueless and not capable of their job. Some work 6 hours while some work 12 hour days.

Union environment with stupid and dumb shop stewards as well as unit chair. They don't provide support to new employees as they only believe in the senior people. Company forces you to work nights if you want shifts and expects all the employees to be trained in all aspects when the trainers are always making mistakes.

Schedule and shifts are constantly changing by the hour. New schedule for the new week gets done multiple times with revisions as something always gets missed and people suffer as a result. High turnover as most people in my same training class leave or quit within 6 months.

Company making promises for full time positions but can't fulfill.

The position provided a variety of task
Tracing Officer (Ancien employé) –  Calgary, AB17 octobre 2019
Enjoy handling the traces and investigations. However, the workplace itself was not very comfortable as there are no windows. Also don't feel so safe at work.
Points positifs
Job was easy
Points négatifs
Too many staff to deal with at times when there is no Supervisor

Dead end job with no room for advancement
Messenger (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC13 octobre 2019
ONLY good part about this place is the hourly wage with no education or specialized training

Negative aspects- the list goes on
- people are racist ( Vancouver area is mostly Indian people)
- unionized place which means people are lazy and stupid
- management are clueless and play favorites all the time
- Managers have double standards and say one thing but mean something else and changes their mind all the time
- not enough hours each week if your willing to work night; which is not worth it for a part timer
- morale is the worst
Very little to no training and is expected to perform the same as people that have been there for years
- all except one supervisor know whats going on in the company as most supervisors are dumb and dont' know whats going on
- Punjabi is used more than English in the GVA branch.. and its totally fine. But if other languages are used, then you get yelled at
- work schedule is changed multiple times as the supervisors keeping screwing up or people calling in sick to get extra day off

HIGH turnover, people don't even last 6 months

I liked the challenge.
Armored Truck & Full Time ATM Technician/Messenger (Ancien employé) –  Kitchener, ON18 septembre 2019
I liked my job. I wished there was better job security. I would still be there.
When working with the right people it felt like a good team spirit.

The union environment, although sometimes necessary, unfortunately allows some people to take advantage of abusing union power making it complicated to keep a good work ethic and happy customers.

Just because a person has seniority it does not mean that person is a leader.

I would be interested to work at Brinks again from the management perspective.

Good for a stepping stone of a job
Driver (Ancien employé) –  Etobicoke, ON3 septembre 2019
Management is the biggest problem at the company. Communication skills slack within the company. No appreciation from supervisors and managers. Part time opportunities only, nothing full time ever available, if ever one comes up, it is without benefits. Shifts can be all over the place mornings or nights. There is no balance of work and life here. The hardest part of the job is communicating with management and working together to run the company efficiently. This job is only for a stepping stone experience towards other jobs related to law enforcement but definitely not one for a career.

Instructor (Ancien employé) –  Calgary, AB7 août 2019
I ask for time off for the military, was told that it was to busy. Then 2 weeks later I was let go! I worked there for 10 years!
The reason they waited 2 weeks. I was training a new hire class.

Decent pay but dangerous work
Armed Guard (Ancien employé) –  Regina, SK24 mai 2019

Please do yourself a favour and just dont bother.
Messenger (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC5 avril 2019
Where to even begin.

You will only receive part time work which can be anywhere from 1 shift every 2 weeks to management constantly calling you through out the day asking if you can come into work that very minute. Schedule changes by the hour, low pay for part time employees and management couldn't care less about you. There is absolutely 0 chance for advancing, people quit each month then new hires last a few months and so on and so on. Management always tries to get you in trouble and in my opinion are very very immature. Its sad honestly. This company has a lot of potential yet constantly throw it down the drain every chance they get. Please take my word and just save your time and gas and money for training.

"Welcome to brinks."

Brinks Canada Limited
The following is strictly from my experience with the GVA branch (Vancouver BC and Langley BC branches).

The supervisors and upper management were more interested in playing office politics and showing off their little-to-non powers to the road employees. Obviously this does not apply to EVERY supervisor and/or management personnel. But you have supervisors who like to threaten to get road employees in trouble, do not work their full shifts (because they are on salary), have extremely limited knowledge of what the road employees actually do, etc.

The job itself is very easy (for those who have brains), but the management like to get their relatives who are unable to follow simple logic to complete tasks into the company. Those who are able and competent get loaded with more work and responsibilities, all while those who are lazy and incompetent get tasked with the simplest jobs that require no effort.

Working for them will hardly feel self-rewarding as you watch your lesser colleagues get paid the same, if not more than, as you while doing significantly less work than you. Management likes to play favorites. They also cannot do what is best for the company. For example, they let two of (very rarely I mind you) fully trained employees go by giving them the stay-full-time-or-quit ultimatum, simply for wanting to step down from full-time hours to part-time. They were both going back to school to better themselves. There is NOT A SINGLE supervisor who is even close to being full trained (meaning capable of completing any tasks from both the armour and ATM divisions). These
plus... were simply power plays with politics over business/management in mind.

If you are looking to be inspired or heading towards policing for your career, this looks good on your resume. But staying long term would be very unwise. Your time is better off spent bettering yourself at school or apprenticeship so you can be beyond this.

Lastly, yes the management is purely awful, however this does not apply to road employees. There are lots of friendly, nice, mature and seasoned armoured officers.

Points positifs
Unlimited amount of OT, if you can be fully trained, because most others, are either too lazy, or unintelligent to do them
