Fun when with someone else

I would recommend if doing this job to partner up with someone as it can be way more enjoyable, however, the salary would have to be split which at that point would be very less.

okay

Working for brampton guardian was a nice experience even though it was just as a newspaper carrier. The staff was nice and never had and issues. Overall experience was okay.

lots of issues, very little transparency

throughout my time delivering for the Brampton Guardian, they lowered pay dramatically. it started with 3 delivery days, but when i quit it had been dropped down to just one day. the only solution they offered as to why was to "take on another route" if we were unhappy with the pay. there were often not other routes available to take on, and the ones that were available were in no way close. carriers would be penalized for newspapers not being delivered intact when in fact when i received the newspapers to fill with flyers they were damaged already.

Good workplace

I was young when I did this job. I remember it being a little difficult at first but it was manageable. I would carry the newspapers and organize them before distributing.

Points positifs

Easy work

Points négatifs

Heavy on back (sometimes—if you carry it all)

Good

I like it, its easy and doesn't take too long. Only once a week. Though, you only get paid basically 10 dollars a week working about 3-4 hours per week.

Points positifs

Once a week and fast

Points négatifs

not paid well

very unenjoyable place to work if you are a busy person

A regular day of work is just having to pack multiple sheets of paper and either wrap it in a rubber band or and a small plastic bag. Sometimes the company that would drop the newspapers at my house would just throw it and rip all the sheets. Overall a bad experience.

Points positifs

yearly bowling tickets

Points négatifs

bad treatment.

fun but time consuming

It was a great job but the only issue was you were doing everything and had limited time to do so. I do not reccomend for high school students because it will take lots of time to finish.

Points positifs

You get paid for each house you do

Points négatifs

Takes a lot of time and you are walking house to house with over 300+ newspapers

You hand out newspaper

Not a hard job, not an easy job either. Took good portion of the day to organize the new paper and even more time to deliver them. Often they had extra flyers which made the job harder with no added benefit.

Harsh and competitive environment

Long days, not easy to learn the work. Hot days with no water and you have to stay the whole time. Your income is based on the number of sales you get.

Points positifs

Free Shuttle Servie

Points négatifs

Long Hours

Very active job

-enjoyed since I had to walk around -great way to earn money However, sometimes delivering newspapers in winter was sometimes bad due to the sidewalks or driveways not being cleaned. I remember delivering newspapers during the storm ( not a major one)

Points positifs

good pay

Points négatifs

delivery papers in winter
Avez-vous trouvé cet avis utile?

Horrible

They don't pay you enough, they take advantage of young kids who want money by giving intense workload. You have deliver in rain, hail, snow, ice. People complain for unnecessary reasons. The pay is on how many houses you deliver, I did 60 so $60 a month.

Points positifs

Free Christmas party.

Points négatifs

Long hours, work in horrible condition in winter or bad weather.

Great job for young kids who want to earn cash easily.

Loved working with Brampton Guardian and for a good cause, not only did I earn money but also specialties like tickets, movies etc. Great way to start a business or earn cash through exercise or easy work for kids. Typically took me 2 hours a week to finish delivering papers which also gave many people an opportunity to advertise their business or companies through my newspapers that I delivered, such as new stores that open up, real estate agencies and events near the neighborhood.

Points positifs

Free movie tickets, games, events etc.

Points négatifs

Didn't earn enough
Avez-vous trouvé cet avis utile?

I do not recommend.

the pay varied drastically each pay period, which was 2 weeks. They changed it to 3 without letting me know. Communication isn't exercised. that's it.

Points positifs

good use of time

Points négatifs

varied pay, lack of communication from employers

it alright

Working at the Brampton guardian as a newspaper deliverer is good as a side job if you want to make quick cash especially since you only do it once a week every week for a whole year and depending on how much houses you do you could receive up to $100 at the end of each month.

Points positifs

once a week

Points négatifs

takes long to make papers

starting job

easy job to do - only 3 days a week. You will get the flyers and the newspaper and then you will need to collate together. When the weather is bad, you will need to bag the newspapers.

Points positifs

good introduction to work

Points négatifs

little pay

Horrible Experience

Every day I had to carry at least 60 pounds of newspaper and deliver them to over 100 houses around my community. The cart that the company gave broke due to the weight. The pay that they gave me was $40 bi weekly for the amount of work we had to do. Even though when I worked for The Brampton Guardian I was under the age, not eligible to work yet, they treated us like dogs. My boss was rude and disrespectful, any time that I was unable to deliver on a certain day because of school or a family matter came up, my boss would be impolite and tell me I would have to do it or else I would get relieved of my job position.

Points positifs

First time having a job, the experience of working hard, was only 5 times a week, weekends no delivery

Points négatifs

Heavy lifting, low salary, hard labour
Avez-vous trouvé cet avis utile?

Small amounts of work, low pay, but convenient.

Good for making a little bit of money. You are only required to work one day of the week, supplies are delivered to you, and you are given a relatively loose timeframe to finish. Good if you want a small job that doesn't take up much time, but it doesn't pay very much.

Points positifs

Work at home

Points négatifs

Small earnings

learn time management

Putting the papers together wasn't hard at all, the only hard work is go carry all the flyers because it is very heavy. It is a great way to learn time management because the ideal time to deliver the newspapers was by 4pm when many parents come home from work. It's not too early nor too late but also you can deliver as early as you desire as long you get the job done.

Points positifs

enjoy the weather

Points négatifs

heavy to carry

Bad first job

This was my first job I ever had but the worst other than mcdonalds. Because they wanted kids like me delivering newspapers in freezing temperatures or snow storms for only $60 per 100 houses which is beyond below minimum wage. It was great that it didn't interfere with school however the pay was not worth it

Great job for kids looking to earn a bit of money after school.

It was a good job, but it was a lot of work to always put the ads into the newspaper. It’s also a good bonding experience if you do it will your family as long as you can agree on how to split the pay.

Points positifs

Somewhat flexible hours

Points négatifs

If you go on vacation you have to find someone to do it for you.

Great "first job" experience

This job was repetitive and at times super boring, but it taught me valuable skills and was a great starter job for me. I learned how to be more dependable, by always delivering no matter the weather and I became closer with my neighbors. It wasn't fun but it gave me the money I needed and had a bowling party with free pizza.
