They cared more about their outside appearance and about their full time staff but didn't care about the part time staff

For Boys & Girls Club of Niagara, you will get a phone call from the person who will be in the interview (she will be quite rude, arrogant, and ignorant). You will be asked to supply 3 work references and will not be allowed any accomodations on that (do not ask, cause you won't get and respect on that even though they have a disclaimer on ever job opportunity that says differently to their actions), nor will you be respected when expressing how you cannot provide 'current' working references. After arranging the interview date/time, you will be called a few minutes later and told that they no longer want to interview you. They are very unprofessional and do not empathize at all with candidates today, and they actually expect you to know the role as they do not have the information in front of them when you ask (they will say "well you applied to it", but they fail to recognize that they called you, and that they should provide the information when asked - which took 2 minutes of dead air for her to find the information on salary for a role that she was calling me about ).

Just that you get to work with kids, basically

For someone with a BSW, MSW, RCC, or Certified Child Care Worker degree, no special preparation is required. The skill-testing questions and scenarios are straightforward and describe real-life situations. The director and a counsellor team up to conduct the interviews, and they are hospitable and considerate. It was probably the most relaxed, enjoyable interview I've ever had.

- lack of pay
- lack of professionalism in the workplace
- poor management and executives
- leadership sucks
- not being able to be an independent leader as was hired for
- discrimination
- old girls club who continue the pattern of hiring females over males
- a exclusive rather than an inclusive environment
- did I mention pay? (pay is horrible, and well below the national avg for many, if not all, positions)

I was a Part Time worker. No vacation policy.

Super casual, not a professional business.

Management. Management is not professional at all, as they are very authoritative and do not give any credit to any employees; the culture of the organization is to hire people who fit the mold of the old girls club . . .

They will not be accommodating at all in creating a barrier free environment, so be careful as they require multiple background checks through various avenues, and for some of those avenues (such a police/child service check) you'll need be required to pay for that yourself and they will not accept any of them that are outside of the 3 month boundary (even though Police say their police check will only list that day, so they explain that it's really a waste of money for people to get).

You will be helping kids which is a pretty good job to do.
