Decent

Exactly what one would expect from working at a bank. Management treated me with respect and dignity. Good starter job after graduation. Long hours when tight deadlines arise

Not a very cohesive culture and stressfully at times

Stressful environment to work in at times with not huge emphasis on work-life balance. Management did not always communicate what was happening in the future and other employees were expected to just pick-up whatever was thrown at them without enough training sometimes. Overall a good place to work but sometimes hard.

Horrible Training

Training is very focused on theory and not enough practical application which is needed for mastery of the systems you are required to use for your job. In addition, you are forced to take live calls while still in training before you have been adequately trained to help customers.

Good co workers

The job is fun and you learn a lot but not through training, they just throw you in. Management isn’t great. They expect full time commitment but only give part time hours unless you move up.

Stressful

Managers are strict with working hours, and they expect you to get in on time. But they would absolutely dont mind having you for at least an hour over time! Not enought training, nor support.

Not too bad

Depend on the Branch you work. Need to be handy sometimes, no work-life balance if management is not good at that branch. However, your co-worker can be very supportive sometimes.

Fastpaced environment

IT is a fast-paced environment. Can get repetitive. High level stress with incomming calls & people complaining about the wait time 90% of the time. Managers are wonderful. Pay is not great with the rising living cost.

High expectations for little pay

After 8 years at BMO I left, no exit interview, no call, nothing! Felt even more validated when I left as a top performer and no one seemed to really care. You’re a number there, just like the customers. Management is very clicky and you’ll get ahead if you are friends with the right people, otherwise you’re stuck in a branch with very little room for improvement or pay increases. While the bank made billions they explained “we do not give cost of living raises” while being expected to talk to your investment clients about the increasing cost of living! Have seen many top colleagues I worked alongside of also leave BMO for better opportunities. A reason why they’re rarely at the top, don’t care enough about supporting their staff and paying them a fair wage.

No overtime or flex pay, but the culture is to work over your salaries hours, mandatory call nights to try and drum up business, often went unpaid.

Limited room for growth

Title says it all. Low salary, high expectations. Always string you along regarding promotions. Managers are hopeless for the most part. No hope of getting raises

Good pace, amazing people

Working at BMO has been fun.Management is very supportive despite the job being kinda stressful. But the pay and benefits make up for it. Overall it's an enjoyable job

It's a place to start but not to stay

Experiance isnt valued you will be paid same as someone with no experience. Over worked under paid / No work life balance you will work every weekend and all holidays and then push you to do over time . Training is more like self learn trial and error. Read the procedures and then sink or swim . No shadowing or call listening. Get ready for daily chats with help desk their technology is the oldest and cheapest its terrible issues day in and day out gets very frustrating. It's a revolving door here as fast as people come they go.

Great place to work overall. With the company growth there is great potential. Great benefits nad good potential for promotion. They have many events too.

Stressful job

Lots of sales and stressful and customers always compliant. Lots of hours. The benefits is ok if you actually used it. The staff are somewhat friendly.

Understaffed and poor management

If you want to work somewhere without proper management, supervisors who will lie to you before admitting fault, and zero on the job training, then this is the place for you. My hiring agreement stated a much higher wage than I was ever paid and our financial information/salary details were shared in group messages. Unless you were a "favourite" there was no chance for advancement. They would rather hire new employees than promote their current (and qualified) staff.

Great place to start for recent grads

Definitely would recommend working here for recent graduates as the company has a strong accepting culture and good workplace environment. Albeit, there are times when you feel a bit "oppressed" by your seniors, but that remains in every job and does go away as your career advances from entry-level to advanced. Also, there's an undertone of interdepartmental favoritism along employees, which again is common in professional/office environments, nothing specific to BMO.

Beautiful office with friendly coworkers and reoccurring events. The benefits BMO provides are fantastic, multiple matched contributions and stock options.

Great place to work

I appreciate the culture of the bank and how they care about their employees. They have several Enterprise Resource Groups you can join for DEI. Most individuals are pleasant to work with and the asks from a work perspective are reasonable and fair.

Good place, could be greater

Good place to work, great team but bureaucracy stops change,improvement or career development. You shouldn't be fighting with senior management to improve your department's operations and roles shouldn't be restricted to certain locations.
