If you're a robot that will dedicate your life to the hotel, or a student working part time, you'll be fine. Otherwise, go elsewhere, the workplace ethic of the full time staff there is barely human, and the (absentee) owner's business ethic will make you question life itself. Be careful what you say to whom, it WILL be used against you. But if you're fine minding your own business and doing the daily tasks for about an hour, and spending the remaining 7 hours doing barely anything you'll be fine.Great support staff, housemen (a.k.a. janitors), maintenance people, and the housekeeping are fantastic people that you'll WANT to be friends with. Barely got to get to know the rest of the front desk staff as I basically worked alone my entire (relatively short) time there.Management disapproves of independent minded people that would rather know why certain things are done the way they are, instead of doing them blindly. Also, the Accountant/Front Desk Manager barely works during the daytime, so good luck getting feedback from the only person that can tell you if you make mistakes. Hardest part is the dead time, you'll literally sit there for hours doing nothing at times, you'll yearn for the times where 15 people show up at the same time.Best part however is when people feel valued by you due to the nature of your good service, seeing your name appear in reviews will make your day. And like mentioned above, DON'T OPEN UP TO PEOPLE WITH YOUR SAME JOB TITLE, some people actually arrive early with the specific intention to talk with management about what goes on behind their - plus...
Great support staff that will make your day so much better
Terrible relations between management and staffing. You have no value there as an employee, you're a meaningless cog.
Managers should improve their way of handling their staff. Not just only at staff but especially to themselves for not being bias to others...........................................
I unfortunately got caught up in one of the Best Westerns who's owner did not overly seem to care about his staff or his customers. Although I would not recommend the specific hotel I worked for, Best Western as a brand seemed to be okay, and if you end up at one better than the one I was employed with, you should have a great experience. I unfortunately was promoted only to supervisor when I was doing the job of the front desk manager, an accountant, as well as still preforming regular front desk shifts. Although I did payroll and did the schedule for my employees, I was not given the power to hire and let go of people in order to make my front desk as strong as possible. Basically, just be wary of things going on, and I'd suggest sticking to the simple front desk position, I wish I had.
My day would start at 7am, take care of check outs, check log for any problems to except, handle any complaints, book reservations as well as groups, accountants receivable, assign rooms for check in for afternoon evening, communicate with housekeeping
Love working with people
The staff is what makes this the best place to work for. I love best western innsiders rewards which is a great perk for working for them, they have awesome promotions so it makes it easier to sign people up. Love serving customers.
Working in the evenings and weekends always, gets tiring after awhile, clashes with relationship

A typical day at work is not always typical, each day something new happens or new problems pop up that you need to solve. But you are always greeted with a smile when you walk through that door no matter how hard the day was for the previous shift. A smile is always the best way to start off a shift I must say. This establishment has taught me numerous new things that i can take with me in life as I move forward. The management and owners make you feel like family and the co-workers also, there is no competition for who is better than the other. I especially love that they understand that everyone makes mistakes at times and they can always be solved. The hardest part of the job for me personally was when new problems would arise that i had never experienced before. The hardest thing is when we have a hotel full of hockey teams. Children running around and other guests being disturbed by the noise, having to keep on-top of the children running in the halls and being strict with them. The absolute best part of the job is how at home i feel when i come to work. We work as a team and we feel comfortable around each other.
Friendly and professional work place. Management and co-workers are very friendly and willing to help where they can. The most enjoyable part of the job is learning new things and getting to interact with guests.
I am rating the Best Western PLUS Chemainus Inn extremely highly, as the GM and AGM as well as each and every other staff member were fantastic to get along with. I loved the guest interaction, how each guest was given their own personalized experience, whether it be just staying at the hotel, or a theatre package, or just using the pool and gym facilities.
Lots to do, actually able work for 8 hours and get paid for 8 hours.
No lunch break, always on the go, which isnt too bad really.

come into work. clock in and start gathering my cleaning supplies for the day. If i ever needed something that i hadnt yet got alot of the other coworkers would grab it for me and as i would the same for them. I then go to my floor, grab my cart and get to cleaning my first c/o room and so on and so forth.
i got hour lunches which was nice
it was would get pretty hot in there in the summer
Typically a busy environment, with a variety of types of clientele. Management very willing to accomodate employees school/family schedule. Usually a friendly atmosphere with only a few unfriendly encounters mixed in. Great relationship between coworkers.
Check in and check out guests, handle and deal with complaints, keep track of competitor's deals/ pricing. Learned the Hotel business. Management was very uneducated and not trained, had tough time to train. Worked on my own each shift. Did not enjoy having to look for the cleaner's and keep track of them cleaning the rooms.
Discounts on rooms for personal hotel use
Bad pay, bad training
I work nights so it's rough. I need a new job. I don't have a social life because of my job. That's the worse part of the job. But I love my job at the same time. I love the people I work with we are like one big family. My co workers are my best friends. My bosses are awesome. This place is definitely a great place to work. But I just need something new. I need a day job
night shift sucks.
I would have to check in and out guest and handle any of their concerns. I learned and used the Opera system to make reservation and check guest in and out of the hotel. The management was very organized and kind. This job provided me a safe and happy environment to work in and my overall experience at this job was amazing. My main task was to ensure customer satisfaction and represent the company in a positive manner.
Flexible lunch hours
