If you're a robot that will dedicate your life to the hotel, or a student working part time, you'll be fine. Otherwise, go elsewhere, the workplace ethic of the full time staff there is barely human, and the (absentee) owner's business ethic will make you question life itself. Be careful what you say to whom, it WILL be used against you. But if you're fine minding your own business and doing the daily tasks for about an hour, and spending the remaining 7 hours doing barely anything you'll be fine.Great support staff, housemen (a.k.a. janitors), maintenance people, and the housekeeping are fantastic people that you'll WANT to be friends with. Barely got to get to know the rest of the front desk staff as I basically worked alone my entire (relatively short) time there.Management disapproves of independent minded people that would rather know why certain things are done the way they are, instead of doing them blindly. Also, the Accountant/Front Desk Manager barely works during the daytime, so good luck getting feedback from the only person that can tell you if you make mistakes. Hardest part is the dead time, you'll literally sit there for hours doing nothing at times, you'll yearn for the times where 15 people show up at the same time.Best part however is when people feel valued by you due to the nature of your good service, seeing your name appear in reviews will make your day. And like mentioned above, DON'T OPEN UP TO PEOPLE WITH YOUR SAME JOB TITLE, some people actually arrive early with the specific intention to talk with management about what goes on behind their - plus...
Great support staff that will make your day so much better
Terrible relations between management and staffing. You have no value there as an employee, you're a meaningless cog.
the manager only listen to one side, she is not professional at work and have favoritism.but i enjoyed every moment that i worked there because of my co-workers who's always been there to help and support me.
This was just a practicum hours job that I had to do for school. there was no pay. while there I learned housekeeping worked in the hotel and the front desk. Need to work on culture in the work place.
Not getting paid for the hours i did
since I was the last one to come in I was the one with the evening shift from 3-11 therefore no much of a lifestyle to do much either before of after work and worked saturday to wednesday.

When I first started with the BW Arden it was great but after a few months I got to see its true colors. Management doesn't have the proper communication skills, policy's can be backwards, and you're bullied into shifts you didn't agree to. Minimum wage, no raises but complementary health care. It'd always a pleasure dealing with the guests which makes the job worth it on most days
I love my shifts everyday it is good to have different shifts especially when you're a mother. My boss are so nice and generous. I love working with my team.

Beautiful area to live and work in. The bar is very good and you receive a nice discount. Staff housing is very nice and affordable. Higher management are very good at their jobs which was nice.
youre in jasper
Not a very supportive workplace. Nice guests and friendly staff. Front Desk manager was good to work for and with. HR management was disappointingly not supportive of staff. Hardest part of the job was working when events were going on. Also didn't get the feeling the staff mattered very much to management. Happy staff=happier guests.
Some nice coworkers
The management was terrible; no one actually deserved their position and would fight with you whenever you brought up innovative ideas since they viewed you as a threat. Communication between co-workers was awful, and of course if you have been there for the longest and are as uneducated as the management team, the managers are more likely to side with that employee, rather than the employee who is being wronged but is educated and could easily in the future move up within the company, if only that opportunity was ever actually available.
Guaranteed full-time hours
Wage, environment, no breaks
I have had jobs before that i have hated to go to. This in not one of them. The best western provides a great space to be able to be myself and assist customers.
Amazing atmosphere, someone is always there to help if needed
I think it's great when you have a job you love. This was one I had. It was a great team at the front desk to work with. Everyone at the front desk helped everyone in all departments. Management were willing to work with you if something came up and (I.E. people with small kids) and you needed a day off.
I always have felt at home there. Everyone is like family and we work hard as a team. The guests can be difficult but that comes with every job in the retail industry. But it is a good job
Do so much but don't get paid what you deserve
Then Best Western Village Park Inn is restrictive, they use the camera's in the building not for guest safety, but to spy on employees and give warning letters which they use to fire you when convenient for them
Co workers are the best
Advancement doesn't exist
The management is easy to deal with and they are very considerate. As a front desk clerk, this work requires a good communication to the guest and you should know what their needs. Be accommodating and make them feel welcomed on your property.
