Work was fast paced in a hotel that was always at full occupancy. My position involved attending to guests' needs, helping with bags, greeting guests at the front door, and room service. Along with that, learning the process of guests when checking in and checking out. I Learned Front Desk check in for guests and the procedure for it. My position as Bellman gave me a window into every department and strengthened my understanding of how a Hotel operates.
Hospitality industry is fast pace and has its challenges. It is never a boring day on it's position and every day is different. Meeting people from all over the world making sure they enjoy their stay is our goal.
Very seasonal in terms of how busy it is. Summers can be crazy with overwhelming work. Winters you can sometimes see one guest an hour. Management is great, they do their job. The effect of being in a 3 star environment definitely shows, but they are very family friendly and relaxed. Hardest part can be the lack of support in the evenings, you need to really step up to still provide that wow experience. The most enjoyable part is the location. A tourist location right by the beach, just an overall great place to be.
i have worked for thirteen years and enjoyed and learnt and benefited a lot from this hotel. The Finance Controller was an experienced, helpful and informative leader.

The Sands Best Western was a great place to work. It was family owned and I felt like a part of it. It's located in my neighborhood so I also felt more a part of it. Operations were run smoothly. The staff were great. Immediate management changed a lot leaving the employees to uphold standards. Serving the same people every day was a challenge and a reward.

I have to say that this company has a lot of cons than pros sadly to say. I found that I was mistreated and a sense favoritism was always an issue. Some co-workers were helpful and some were rude and impolite. The hardest task about this job was having a day off. I am like a dog and don't get a lot of days off. The management does not seem to care that I work a lot of hours and would like to have 1 day off regularly a week. The most enjoyable task I can say about this company is that the people who helped out were always pleasant and made my day go by smoother than what it would have if they weren't there.
I loved working with the people at the Best Western. We were a tight family and very supportive of one another.
