If you are looking for something where you talk to people everyday, this is the place for you. You get to know most guest that stay weekly. Management is not good, stay one thing then do another thing. Will lie right to your face.
Shortly into my first shifts, I began to notice that the management they had working there made for a very uncomfortable work environment. The one supervisor they have there does not know how to control her emotions, especially in front of co-workers AND guests. Will scream at you in front of guests when you don't know what to do and talk down to you and other managers. This supervisor would call out other people who work there in front of you when they noticed they did something wrong or even just wrote on a piece of paper that the supervisor created or when packets of paper were not put in the correct place that they personally designated. Makes you scared to go into work for your next shifts. When the supervisor would start losing it and had to run away from the front desk, the hotel manager just told them to go out back and calm down, and to come back out when they are done. Not acceptable in a workplace environment, especially when someone is in a higher position such as a supervisor. The location also has a very high turnover rate, and they should wonder why.
It's an awful place to work, and the manager is nasty and back stabbing...She has no idea how to manage a hotel..The staff are always upset, and angry because of her...I would not reccomend working here..The Hotel has a huge turn around as it's always a revolving door..This hotel is awful...
I was quite recently hired to work in the housekeeping department . All I had for training was 4 days and then was on my own on the 5th day to tackle the rooms assigned to me ...After working hard to remember everything that is to be done in the allotted time frame..of course I made mistakes here and there , but perfection doesn't happen in my short time working there..The first day on my own turned ugly when I was being picked apart for everything.. I got upset that I wasn't doing that well, I became frustrated and almost quit on the spot , but decided to give it a bit longer and over time I would get it all perfect, and I was beginning to think that I was doing a decent job of it..as I wasn't getting too many complaints about this or that... My last day of work went great or so I thought... After giving my supervisor my completed room list and key .. I smiled and waved and said I would see her the next morning. The following day my supervisor called and gave me the day off along with a few others as it wasn't busy ..I hung up and I said I would see her after the weekend. , but later that day I received a call from the housekeeping manager who informed that she did an investigation.. because someone was not changing every bed , She set small traps to catch the culprit and low and behold she some how came to the absurd conclusion that it was ME ! When I asked her the room number so I could think back to what was needed for the room .. I was told that she couldn't remember the number she then went on to tell me one of my rooms with two queen beds weren't changed .. - plus...

At first it seems like there is a lot to learn, but I picked it up pretty quickly. The main responsibilities are checking guests in and out and answering phone calls (mostly people calling to make reservations). My co-workers were all amazing, which is essential for this job, because most of the time you're only working with one other person. I found management was usually pretty good, but could be strict if you made mistakes. I had co-workers who didn't handle criticism well, and didn't like the management.
Co-workers, good hours, relatively good pay
Management at times, dealing with rude guests
Very little support from management; they would say one thing and do another. Even if you provided a doctor's note stating you needed time off they would not approve it
co-workers were nice
bullying from management, long hours
It was awesome job for me over there.Co-worker were good and friendly.I learn lots of thing from there .Hard part of job is overtime, because we had to complete the room which they give us.We had a lots of fun with all our team and we use to share everything we had with us.
I worked in the laundry department of housekeeping there. I had one day of training and then was left to one of the two laundry rooms on my own with the instruction to do all towels. After working hard to get caught up on the mounds of backlog for a week, I got everything in order. The laundry supervisor got upset that I was doing that well, as she had been behind for 6 1/2 years, according to her. She became somewhat hostile with me. After she called in the District manager to complain about me, SHE got a talking to about her attitude. I thought the matter was resolved, but regardless I was terminated two weeks later...something about me letting towels go out to guests with stains on them. I was not instructed on the issue, plus the machine was worked on for an hour by a guy trying to fix the mix of detergent and bleach that the machine was taking in to wash the towels. Normally, when I have done something incorrectly at a job I have been given more training, not fired! I have never been fired from a job in my life. The housekeeping department is a den of politics, and my suggestion for anyone stepping into that climate is to be as meek and stupid as possible to avoid gaining anyone's disfavor!
mostly nice people, laundry was decent enough work
minimal pay and benefits, politics
Unfortunatally they have a very pour management / supervisour team. I attempted to express my feelings of consern to a manager and ended up getting fired for simply expressing my opinion in a very calm maner. I was being charged $15.oo bi-weekly to supposivly get one uniform washed (which I took home to wash anyways) and was not assigned my proper size for a uniform and only had one uniform during the time I was employed. If you take all of your breaks you lose an hour of pay.
There are none.
Time taken off your pay for all your breaks, evenn including 8 hr shift
