i had multiple responsibilities including looking after the back of the kitchen so making sure prep was done and things were organized and clean. or looking after the line so closing it down at night making sure everything is clean and prepped for the next day
Fun and productive work environment. Learned a lot about health cleaning. Spring cleaning a room was the hardest work. All in all was a good company to work for.

Per day I cook and plate up to 200 tasty entrées in a shift. My job is to prepare my station for that by ensuring proper levels of product and quality. I try and learn better more creative and efficient ways of accomplishing these things everyday. For the majority I have a great bunch of co-workers who bring a great diversity of abilities to the job. The most difficult part of the job is when all the customers want to order at once and we have far too much food to produce in an unrealistically short time. The best part of the job is creating fabulous dining experiences that people take photos of and compliment on.
Union benefits, seniority job protection, The ability to work with a good variety of fresh local procuct.
Poorly trained management and staff.
Owing to my great exposure, having worked in larger hotels, I have been able to bring in a wealth of ideas to improve on our customer experiences. That would not have been possible without the support of the great management team that I work together with. They are an awesome lot! That being the case, I have been able to showcase what I know and can do, having been given a free hand, keeping to a fair budget and following through to the projects completion. The results have been very well received and has given me a great sense of accomplishment. I have learnt how to work better in a unionized environment. Hardest part of my job is getting staff members to maintain the set standards, but I nonetheless, enjoy following up on and guiding them. The most enjoyable part of my job has been proving myself worthy to be working in another country, excelling and being commended with the words "You are an asset to Canada!", by an interviewing Executive Housekeeper.
Free lunches and most food purchases are at 50% off for staff. Extended medical benefits.
Very small compared to other places I have worked, so I feel underutiliuzed.
Well my favorite thing about Working at the Best Western Beer & Wine was not waking up in the morning and dreading to go to work because I very much enjoyed it there and two the people and close customers. As I like to refer to them as my 2nd family. There really isn't a thing I did not enjoy about working at this establishment. One of the hardest things I've ever had to do is leave the Best Western to relocate and I miss it everyday.
Dealing with dissorderly customers
A typical day at work was going from room to room, making sure al rooms are properly cleaned and made for the next customer. I learned good communication skills at this job as well as how to get things done in a timely manner. My co-workers were good to work with, as i enjoyed working with people. The hardest part of my job was the strenuous aspects such as lifting anything heavy and constantly pushing a vacuum, could sometimes make me sore. I mostly enjoyed working within that company, it seemed like a family atmosphere
free lunch provided by the cooks
sometimes long hours
