Biased. Is not an equal oppurtunity employer. Has gone through more employees using their judgement than most businesses. Ignores applications from qualified applicants. Can not seem to contact applicants, can never give straight answers and the Highland Square location in New Glasgow Nova Scotia has the worst customer service I have ever seen. I fail to mention the employees have no knowledge of the products they sell.

A typical day at work would start at around 9am and would end around 5-6 pm depending on the day if I was working by myself or not. The customer base was very easy to get along with.

Working at Bell has been great, however, there really isn't anywhere to go unless you want to join the corp sales team. Great management, great team, wonderful environment, the pay is great, the vacation days and benefits are amazing. Great entry level job, but eventually it will be time to move on. Wonderful company overall.

Great opportunity to learn new technical skills and interact with the general public by installing and repairing TV, internet & phone services. All tools, equipment and training are provided by the company. Because this is a unionized work place, pay and schedules for new technicians can be challenging. However, this improves in time with advantages afforded to those who have been working for the company longer. All technicians start out as part-time employees put can progress to full-time employment within approximately five years depending on the location and turnover of work place. Bell focuses on the bottom line (making as much money as possible for Bell) which for shareholders is great but for employees and customers can be infuriating. Continual "micro- managing" is in place, with technicians being monitored in every aspect of the job with GPS is installed in every work vehicle and monitoring of almost anything that can be monitored. Technicians are expected to adhere to impossible targets relating to the installation time allocated for each job which can sometimes result in poorly installed jobs or jobs not completed at all, depending on the experience and integrity of the technician performing the task. Technicians are sometimes forced to seek assistance from overseas call centres and are expected to wait on hold indefinitely with an agent who may not necessarily speak or understand the Canadian English language (which for a leading communications company is absurd). Organization between departments can be frustrating with the left hand not knowing what the right hand  plus... is doing. In the eight years that I worked as a BTS technician, I encountered a number of managers ranging from the genuine and supportive to the controlling and demanding tyrant. A very difficult place to advance due mainly to the clique culture. Work life balance can be difficult due to the fact that work schedules can be changed at the last minute with technicians being forced to work on a planned day off. On the flip side there is lots of overtime available and great comaraderie exists between technicians. Overall, Bell is a good place to work if one is prepared to put in the hard work and effort to stick around.  moins

RUN, RUN, RUN away.

If I could give "0" for this organization I would. You go to Bell training but you work for OSL and not Bell (don't get the two confused).

Everything they said about the job was FALSE and misleading. Examples include:
People with different mileage amount.

Expenses were paid when they felt like it. They were delayed all the time.

Shared rooms while on the road. Not outlined in offer letter.

Never knowing where you will work the following week until 2 days before. You could be working 300km away from your home and living in a hotel for a week and you get NO advanced warning.

Changed commission plan and goals weekly to suit the management team.

I was hired under the premise that I would work within the advertised territory. WRONG I was never near the advertised area ONCE.

Management team is a joke and shouldn't be allowed to manage people - not even at a fast food chain !!
No follow up, no direction, no suggestion on how to grow the business, lied to potential clients about the product and features.

The product DOESN'T work and failure rates at install were double digit. Management team didn't care about anything accept how many RGU's you book.

Bell is an amazing company to work with. I work 10-6 everyday and i work from home , so it helps me maintain my work as well as home effectively. Through internal portal Bell keeps its employees informed about internal and external situations that effect Canadians and our customers, Culture is very positive and we get to share our views through internal Messaging system, emails and chat groups.Long sitting hours is the hardest part but when customers leave your calls satisfied and happy that is the most rewarding part of work.
