Beware of this company

They are more in interested in efficiency numbers, they don't care or even report on customer satisfaction levels. Manages are paid bonus's based on efficiency numbers, employees are not.
Life balance doesn't exist, if your start here, expect to work every weekend for sometime as you will be considered a a part time employee (even if you work 40hrs/wk) due to the union contract and upgrades are a long time coming based on the area your located, all due to seniority within the union.

under paid and not a secure job

The most unorganized company to work for. shift can be changed up until 7pm the night before which creates a difficult work/personal life balance. wage is way under paid for risks and tasks on the job. often times sitting in a van for hours waiting for work because of unorganized hierarchy in the company that creates several communication barriers and a negative experience for the customer and the technitian.

Forced Overtime, terrbile management, and a worthless union.

If the words "Assigned Hours" don't fill you with dread, work here for six months. That's if you can get any hours starting out.

Pay is alright, but you don't know your shifts until the night before (good luck planning anything) and they have zero interest in accommodating your schedule.

The work itself isn't bad

If you enjoy problem-solving, or working with hand tools, the work itself isn't bad. The management however is absolutely terrible. Most of the direct managers are good folk, but their bosses just don't seem to understand much about the work, and don't care at all about the employees. Expect to have more than legally allowed forced overtime, for months if not years on end without break, only to have the company force you on shift for a weekend in the middle of your vacation.

Always be prepared for the week, have a plan. Everyday new action items come out, so have to prioritize the level of urgency of the matter at hand, cannot delay or wait.

Learnt to always be honest in your approach to everything, we deal with a high level of customer satisfaction.

Management is awesome. Workplace culture is great with lots of recognition.

The hardest part of the job is not getting focus action items monthly from senior manager which always changes. Especially with no frequent 1 on 1 coaching to know where you stand. Too many meetings, which are not very productive.

The most enjoyable part of the job is working in the field observing and coaching Technicians to meet Quality, Productivity and Health & Safety which are the biggest drivers for customer satisfaction.

Good place to get Lots of experience and training. In a Early morning drive in. You have to hurry up and grab your Truck before it gets busy in the parking Lot. Make sure you order materials for that Truck the next Day.

I loved my experience

I loved working for Bell as a service technician, work kept the days interesting because all clients offered different challenges.

Pros:
Tech oriented
Feel like you're your own boss
Freedom

Cons:
Hours made family life hard since it's a service job, you will have to work weekends

Field Technician at BTS is a good job. The work is interesting and engaging. The problems stem from some serious "Big Brother" monitoring, poor management, terrible work life balance and very limited advancement. There are benefits and it is unionized, but I cannot recommend it.

this is by far the worst company I have ever worked for. Long hours, low pay. you work alone and are required to enter strangers residences as well as climb ladders, up hydro poles. With no supervision, climbing poles in the country during the winter, with no cell reception is a huge hazard but is expected of you. If a technician falls in the woods and nobody hears them, did they actually fall? yes. they are probably dead in the woods. Bell has no respect for their workers. you have no schedule, your schedule is released the evening before. Also you get a daily report where they grade you on effectiveness, time spent on site, reworks. If you like to take your time, double check your work and make sure the customer is satisfied, this job isnt for you, they want you in and out. when you have to run new wiring throughout an entire house or test 10 km of copper cables. they do not provide you with the extra time required. the harder the job, the lazier you look.. bell is hot garbage

I thought this job was good but its not. They pay is terrible for what you do and management is absoultely terrible. Please stay clear of this place. I could literally right a book about how this place will make you hate yourself. The coworkers are terrible and will try to use you.

They manage through intimidation and strict GPS and job time rules. They have very little tolerance for personal issues or weather related issues. They expect strict adherence to contract and company policies rather than employees being focused on customer service without manager approval.
Management feels that they have every experience covered and know it all and if you make a personal decision, that they don't agree with, you are totally wrong and will be disciplined, regardless of your opinion and explanation. The union is a joke in defending you, they just record the proceedings and don't challenge management, like they should.
I do not recommend them as an employer, you may start with full time hours but you will be considered a part-time employee for many years.

Dont do it. i would suggest avoidance at all costs unless you want to never see family or friends for the next years of your life. management lie and cheat to simulate good numbers coming from the field so they get a fat bonus and in return makes you look bad....management uses you for $$$

If I could give a less then 1 star rating I would. Management expects every job to be done in 1 hour. No matter what you have to do. If you take any longer they will call you and ask why you are taking so long. If they call you too many times you will be placed on a performance plan and they will remind you every day how terrible you are at your job
