I work as a PSW/ Homecare, it's very satisfying for me,like taking care of my family but outside my house. I love the clients, enjoy the management, get to choose whether I will accept a client, great communication with the office, provided with required tools and some minor benefits. The pay is minimal for the work and the work is sometimes heavy& dirty. In short,I enjoy it but it's difficult work

In beginning when I started the staff were not the friendliest then the original area director retired and then a new lady from Kitchener came and that’s when we got a raise In pay and the staff nurse was friendly and helped us out with jobs and we had a lot of shifts to choose from When the Kitchener lady left and the staff nurse was let go the shifts disappeared and so did the raises The new area director is horrible and not friendly at all I quit 2 weeks later would not recommend d this place for any of my friends or family

Bayshore tries their best to provide services to their clients. PSW are treated nicely to their face but are talked about in length once they are out of ear shot. Clients are treated the same. Management gets very annoyed if any issues arrive. And are quick to pass blame. In office gossip is terrible, comparable to highschool. Even among the "top dogs".

When you are hired as a casual part time, call in and are made to work 30 days straight with no time off, something is NOT RIGHT.
They say you get every other weekend off, funny, that is such a lie to get you in there.

They do not pay travelling, so if you are driving for an hour then take that off the hours you spend at a clients place.

Something is seriously wrong when you have worked 14 days straight between pays and have accumulated 140 hours in that 2 week pay and only classed as casual part time!

Stay clear they lie through the rug to get you to accept the position.

Pros- Clients, Flexibility, benefits package
Cons- Dis-organization in the Office, lack of dental benefits for part time staff, poor communication, high turnover of staff.

Nice place to worked specially with seniors living in a community.
The company provides excellent services to both employee and clients.

There's a lot of clients in the community and provides continous training to be able the staff to be updated that leads to effective working performance.

They hire you then tell you that its Tradional Care but in fact it's long term care without the proper care for patients and equipment to use. No accountability from Bayshore and no support.

Company offers $19/hr but what they don’t tell you is that your hours are spread throughput the day and evening with no compensation for travel time and gas (there is a tiny stipend that does not cover costs) so Impossible to make a living and have any sort of quality family life. If going into this company, set your boundaries and stick firmly to them.

If you want to be a respected and apreciated PSW you have to apply at Bayshore great company to work for i am proud to work for them .
Bayshore clients are great the managers are great

I found that the PSW's could be better matched with the clients, I think Bayshore can benefit greatly if they could match PSW to clients requirements.

I would have to say there’s pros and cons to every job but for me I haven’t had nearly enough cons to make it a negative experience in the year I’ve been with the company, great patients, decent pay, good benefits and I come home with a smile on my face 90% of the time. Scheduling sometimes is a bit chaotic (not enough coordinators/supervisors) but it eventually gets done.

If they like you you will go far, but if you voice your opinion and they don't like it you will not get hours. Family does not come first, clients do.

I have to say the office staff were very nice over all. But my supervisor never got back to me on several occasions so I found that disturbing. I tried on several occasions to get a hold of him and he was not very professional as far as I am concerned.
I started this job brand new to the field and fresh out of another field of work for many years. I was paid a lot more in my previous job but moved so started something a little different. I did have experience in a similar field as this. I found this job to be very scattered in hours and you will be driving from place to place for $2 each place you drive to and from. It would not be worth it if you have to drive more than 5 minutes per place as the wear and tear on your vehicle is not great. The other thing I found that I was not overly thrilled about is the time that you have with each client, is not enough to do anything other than personal care for the individual. It is very rushed and I found that to be difficult as I thought the job was more about helping the clients in other ways, but it was mostly bathing them. There were a few who you could make a lunch for and light housekeeping but 90% of the time was bathing/pere care and dressing. I realized I am not as flexible as I used to be so this was not as physically easy for myself to do. I only lasted a short while at this job but found a new respect for the people that do it. I truly believe that the pay should be over $20 an hour for anyone that does this job. I can tell you that the clients for the most part were very nice people and very welcoming.

Sounded like a great job on hire with the somewhat fair wage Make yourself available for 6-8 hr days Lucky to get 4 clients scheduled.= 4 hrs pay Even tho available for those 8 hrs NO compensation for on call. Travel allowance poor Working rural areas and in winter weather takes 15+ mins between visits but will only pay you 15 mins travel = $3.69
Change your schedule and don’t notify , schedulers notorious for sched visits with no travel between Can never budget what your pay would be. Tell you that you have to be available every other weekend then get 3 clients for whole weekend. Take away you scheduled clients on holidays to avoid paying premium.

Been with Bayshore for 3 1/2 years. First 3 years loved it. New MALE management, a supervisor came into play. Nasty to work for. Only cares about the money. Not the workers nor clients.Very much a heartless man. Had no choice but to quit. He had his nose in everyone's business, including scheduling. Forced you to work split shifts even though you were casual. I very much like my NEW employment in Homecare now.

Unfortunately, management has changed so many times. When I first was hired response times where amazing. Over the years, they have cut back. Neither Coordinators or Management gets back to us In a timely manner. Often times if I send an email, it will be months for a response or no response at all. So if it is truly important you have to telephone them and remind them.

Last minute bookings is always the case, when I know for a fact they could have posted available shifts in a more timely manner.


I do not do community, but I do 12 hour shifts at a facility and that is why I am still working for them. The facility is where my heart is at and I love every aspect of that position and the staff that work at that facility.

The pay and car allowance is good. The online advertisement posted by the HR department offering full time and part time contracts is a ruse. There are no full time hours. Don't stick it out hoping for more, there aren't any. If they are not filling up the large availability that you have given, opening up more is not the answer. You are not a 7-11. You will need another part time job. But, if you are willing to work every weekend, and fly by the seat of your pants, then Sarnia Bayshore is the job for you. The staff in the office are nice and approachable. Phone the office if you want an answer to something as the schedulers don't answer emails. Other reviews for other locations have said the same thing.so the problem lies further up the chain. Too bad, as almost every client I have visited, complains about Bayshore scheduling. It's easy to love the good things about a company you work for but you need to decide if you can live with the bad stuff as well. That's the important thing. If working in the community is where you want to be, ask other PSWs to see which company has the bulk of the hours as I have done. Unfortunately for Bayshore, it's not them. Enough said, I hope this helps in deciding whether or not you want to work for this company.

Not a very positive place to work. The CSC don't reply to sent e-mails. They constantly call you on your day off and expect you to drop whatever you are doing and get to work. They also send you out of your area so you are in your car driving longer than the customers care appointment is. The first few weeks there they give you the hours, after a month or so, they stop giving you hours period. The CSC'S have a way of talking down to the paws in the field. Selfish people that lie to you. You would be happier to stay home and watch TV.

They book you in for less than 6 hours sleep sometimes between your evening and day shifts, and threaten to fire you if you say no. They cut the definition of "full time" to get rid of everyone's benefits. If you complain about an unsafe work environment, they don't do anything and tell you to go back.

Bayshore home health has been the most rewarding an amazing job I have ever had.I had to leave this job due to family obligations but will return soon
