The managers are very rude and they don’t give you hours. First it’s not commission based but if u don’t sell they will send u home and not give you hours anymore. One bad sales day= no hours for at least 3 weeks. I just worked there to get by for school or else I would not recommend. They keep hiring people even though they have enough staff. They can’t even distribute the hours between the existing employees forget the new ones. Only the people u work with are nice but the management is bad.
Free lunches sometimes
Although my time at Banana Republic started off great, it quickly went downhill from there. Expect a lot of drama within the "team" and no consequences for speaking poorly about other employees and management. Newer employees are not trained properly and suffer because of it. Most sales associates end up doing more work than management, and on their own with no assistance. Management will enforce over-the-top customer service on guests that actually ends up driving them away/ leaving complaints. If you're looking to advance in the company, it probably won't happen. Workplace culture overall was horrible and not worth it.

A typical day about Banana Republic would include maintaining constant communication with your colleagues, keeping the store clean and organized, giving customers suggestions, and learning what new merchandise is available as well as promotions as it was always changing. Everyone you worked with seemed really cheerful and friendly, both on and off the sales floor. Management was good, very involved, but not controlling or micro-managing in any way. Most enjoyable part was definitely getting a customer to buy additional items due to your suggestions.
I enjoyed working at Banana Republic. I did find, however, that it became quite competitive for hours right before I quit. They would track peoples sales and people who did not sell as much would not get as many hours. We didn't get a commission on any of the sales so there wasn't much reason to stress yourself out to get a lot of sales. I found it to be pretty boring, a typical clothing job, and quite slow. I quit because I found it so boring and wasn't getting enough hours. In the summer, because I am a student I requested full-time hours and I barely got three shifts a week.
I’m not rating a company because I didn’t like their support or benefits, but I loved the Banana Republic park Royal management and it’s amazing staff. friendly environment ,caring management. You need to be multitasker .customer service Was our priority and we had such nice customers.
First time doing sales. I had an amazing leader who taught me how to sale not only to women's section but also in the mens section. It was a rewarding experience since I was surround by amazing people and I learnt a great deal on the job.
Working here is back and forth. Sometimes, you'll get a lot of hours other days you won't. The managers have favourites and those people would get the most hours, and people struggling to do their best would only get 3 hours minimum. The co-workers however was the best part of working there because it was so easy to get a long with everyone. Though at the same time, most of the new co-workers had no idea what they were doing because management failed to train them properly, which caused a lot of frustration. They kept changing policies that have nothing to do with the business getting better, they just wanted to feel accomplished in some way which was very very annoying. They don't schedule enough hours to help clean up the store or train their employees to properly clean the store, thus the company/store get a lot of complaints from customers. The tidiness of the store was like a 1/10 almost everyday, which I don't blame the employees entirely, mostly the managers. They do not how to manage their own team and they ALWAYS find others to blame whenever they make a mistake. The management part of Banana Republic Factory store was the reason why I found another job. I used to like working there when we had better management. Ever since the change of the management i think no employee likes working there. There are some managers who will be friendly and helpful, though those same managers would be completely useless and just end up talking and delegating their work. Other than that, the co-workers there was the reason why i worked there for so long. Although, there was constant drama - plus...
the co-workers, flexible hours
low pay, management, favoritism plays a big part, short hours/no hours, will not gain customer service experience

Banana Republic is a great place to work if you are into higher-end fashion. If you know a lot about fabrics, materials, styles and cuts then working here would be great for you. If you do not fit that criteria then Banana Republic might not be the best place for you. Management as well as co-workers can be quite pretentious at times which can make you feel out of place if you do not fit that certain criteria.
